I would go with retirement today, but all back channeling has been done, now Dolson can officially start sitting down with candidates to discuss our opening. Hopefully the first candidate has already agreed to everything behind the scenes

I doubt Brad has a lot of time for phone chats this week since today is the trade deadline. But “all” in Jerry’s message seems to me to be a both/and sort of thing: goodbye to one coach but also hello to another.

Not to assume there’s pen to paper. But maybe there’s openness to have some serious discussions once the deadline passes.

One thought I had was that if Stevens is, indeed, the guy, then you sit on the retirement announcement until after the Celtics' post-trade deadline press conference...

If it's going to happen, IMO it's announced today.  The team clearly has to suspect something's in the works but not sure waiting does anyone any good.  Let them absorb the news and give the designated interim a chance for some last minute game planning and tweaks to our usual offense and defense.
