Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Quinn forced him on to IU with Steve

He is Steve's godson and was untouchable the first 3 years

IU hired Pam, she loves athletics, She let Scott get rid of Allen and let him hire Cigs

Woodson still sucks, but his buddies can't save him any longer, Scott has power now.

Woodson is done either now or March

He also said after the IOWA loss that the fire mike woodson crowd was a small but loud contingent that had become so tiresome for him, dolson and buckner.  Then he alluded that this small crowd wasnt doing this because of performance but for other reasons of which you can probably guess.  Puts.

While I will probably stay in the skeptic column when it comes to Brad actually coming here, what does that timeline look like? The Celts are likely not going to be done playing basketball until June. Would he leave before the season was over? I would lean towards we should wait as long as he wants if he commits but do we really want to be without a coach for two+ months?

They’ll let him go if he wants out.  They have a draft to prep for in June.  You wouldn’t want Brad having anything to do with that if he’s leaving.

I'm in the "believe it when I see it" camp on Stevens and IU. That poster was talking about Virginia and I think they have as much a chance with Stevens as I have with Jessica Alba.

How are they made up concerns? Every career move he has made suggests otherwise. How many guys leave college for the NBA and come back successful or come back at all?

you're worried if he'd win here? I absolutely cannot smh any harder.

How are they made up concerns? Because you made them up. "babysitting 18-22 year olds"-- how much babysitting do you think Coach K did with the pros he brought in? And, again, out of those 4---- he's the best candidate.

Reading sure is a skill. Where did I ever doubt his ability to coach /win? Assuming he's 100% committed to the job along with all the nuances of being a college head coach (which are different than being an NBA head coach and executive), sure sign him up. I'm questioning his commitment because every career move he has made suggests he's committed to being a college head coach.

I'm not asking for you to agree with my opinion either.

You seem confused in your posts then. You just asked... " How many guys leave college for the NBA and come back successful or come back at all?  lol... but you aren't questioning if he'd win.... hmmmm

So, what are you questioning? "his commitment" ....no. you're questioning if he'd win lol

I had no clue that being a college HC was different than an NBA HC and GM. Appreciate the help.

Brad Stevens discourse is sooo tired. Would be great if he comes here, sure. Until I see it with my own eyes, I can’t get excited about it. I’d rather talk about all the candidates who wouldn’t necessarily win the press conference than the handful we know that would. Wake me up in March…

"Stevens is an Indiana boy to his core. He was born and raised in in Zionsville, Indiana. His father would often drive him to Bloomington to watch the Indiana Hoosiers play. Stevens replicated what he saw during pick-up games in his friends’ driveways." Seth Davis hints at Brad Stevens as candidate if Indiana job opens in 2025 - On3

Brady Stevens, Son of Celtics Executive Brad, Commits to Notre Dame MCBB | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

Son is a FR at Notre Dame, Dad is an IU grad, and Brad grew up dreaming of and replicating IUBB games in his driveway. It's a done deal, what better way to honor your family than to win a championship for your home state with your son on the team and dad proud in the stands

“With all the Billy Donovan chatter there is another former college coach in the NBA who should not be forgotten. Brad Stevens,” Davis wrote on X. “He’s an Indiana native. Perhaps if there’s a big job open in his native state next year…. Don’t rule it out. It’s more possible than you think.”

Just a reminder for those if you don’t get your guy A, B, C or even D there are plenty of good college basketball coaches coaching today that could take over and turn this around.  Doesn’t have to be the name brand coach to get this thing rolling.   Also if and that will be a big if Stevens becomes head coach and he doesn’t turn IU around then that’s all she wrote for IU basketball.   He is the White Whale for almost every IU fan.  If he can’t fix it then I would say most fans will check out

I’m going to disagree with you here. Going back twenty years the title has only been won 4x by a single time winner: Bennett, Calipari, Ollie (lol), and Scott Drew.

Absent Ollie, those guys are all good coaches, but even with them in the mix the titles are generally monopolized by the top 5ish coaches at top programs.

“Good coaches” will potentially get chewed up at a place like IU. Places like IU need to be searching for great. I am with you on being fine with taking a young up and comer, but IUs problem is twofold: 1) they can’t identify them and 2) they can’t self assess well enough to pull the trigger and move on quickly when it isn’t working.

So I 100% get fans fixating on Stevens…even though it isn’t going to happen.
