Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Agreed and I'm not trying to dog Woody but it would explain why he doesn't know player names, looks like "he's lost" on the sideline, can't make comments in pressers beyond the repeated cliches, etc. and perhaps QB knows and gives his buddy a final gift of this position??

If something like that was true, and I'm highly skeptical, and if QB knew that would actually violate his fiduciary duty to the University as Board Chair.

Do people really think he'd leave Michigan after a single year? I don't.

Yeah he has a connection here but if you ask me - he would not have taken the Michigan job, a job in conference, only to bolt for IU that quickly. He would've waited for IU to open up.

This isn't Lane Kiffin we're talkin' about here.

In the Gary Parrish video (above) they talked about May having turned down the Louisville job due to the "fishbowl" effect and mentioned that May might have passed on IU for the same reason... I know he's an alum, and he said that he wanted to coach here... but too much pressure? The inference was that Michigan was a football school, so less pressure...

Not sure that I agree with them, but it's an interesting take on the situation. And I'd still take him in a heartbeat.

I came here to discuss the process and mindset within the University on matters such as this, and the “Fire Woodson” crowd didn’t care for that. The mistake I made was suggesting their reactions were emotional, which elicited an extremely emotional response from the unemotional and rational posters whom I called “emotional”.

The "mindset" of the University, if that's what it is, is stupefying.  Many posters have given you well thought out, rational, data based, reasons to make a move now (if not at the end of last year), but you don't want to hear them.  Maybe you are a part of the dumbest University administration in the country.

Gary knows Jack and **** about IU basketball. I wouldn’t give him air.

Provided things are going well and money is there…Why would Bruce Pearl or anyone even want to consider a dumpster fire like IU unless it’s earlier in career and it’s a move upwards?  Exception: B.S. because well he is B.S. lol Brad Stevens….and to a lesser degree Dusty May.
IU men’s basketball first needs a no nonsense integrity approach and culture brought back to program before winning one game in the future (next season).  Either one of these guys would do that with Stevens overall experience’s unsurpassed by anyone.  And the IU fanbase would be gracious giving either some grace enough for correction course.  (Brad Stevens would not be intimidated at all).

Other than those two a no nonsense high integrity culture first coach followed by winning.  Most importantly this is the IU men’s basketball hire of the 21st century.

Obviously I don't know if it's true.. just a theory.. but if Kathy is some sort of insider and she hinted at it in a response post.. it just makes me wonder if there's any validity..

If that is truly her job/mission, she should be fired immediately because all she has done is stoke the flames

Could be a troll too.  She just comes when we are most feisty and his seat is scorching,

The buyout situation with his contract is really intriguing in all of this.  If he is not at least thinking about another job there is no reason to want that buy out so low.  And you can darn bet the school did not want that buy out that low for year 1.   We are all jumping back on this crazy coach carousel again!   Away we go!

We've been here before. It's our "comfort place".

The "Vortex of Suck".
Interesting stats from this video:
  • IU has not finished in the B1G ahead of Purdue since 2016.
  • IU has not finished in the top 25 KenPom since 2016.
  • Woodson spent "$5M in the portal and are playing like it's 1982"... though I believe the number is closer to $6M.
  • IU hasn't reached the Elite 8 since 2002.
Probably would not be ay worse if he spent 1 million.

How was he supposed to know Woodson would royally crap the bed like this? For all he knew, Woodson could have kept buying talent and managing to not suck until he turned 70. As a coach, you can only wait around on your dream job for so long, and sometimes, it just never materializes.

It's Woodson, the laziest and most entitled man on the planet. How could May NOT know that?

The QB club…talking to Woodson for probably about a half hour should tell most people that know anything and maybe another hour for a little research is what you have and that is a lack of ability, knowledge and intellect to be a head coach for IU men’s basketball….when he interviewed for the job.

The concerns with guys like May and McCollum have very little to do with X's and O's.

So does this mean you onboard since you are talking about coaching candidates?  Or is Woody still going to turn this around?
