Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I get that Woodson doing this would make you feel better, but how does that make the program better?

Are you kidding me?  First, it prevents a hostile fan base.  The fans are looking forward knowing there is light at the end of the Woodson tunnel.  IU looks good taking care of "their guy" giving him a "hero's" send off.

It then allows Doslon to get to work and find the next Cig, so the program can hit the ground running full speed in April and the portal opens up, HS recruiting decisions are made, etc.

What are you talking about, it is all 100% fact.  You yourself earlier said Woodson doesn't put in the hours that Cig does.  What college lifers has he brought in to help?  Zero, zilch, nada, nothing.  He brought his Pro buddy Armond hill instead.  And did he not say we are not "true fans" at last year's senior night?  That's 100% true.  Come on man.

No, he doesn’t work as hard as Cig, but that’s only one issue. You know who did? Tom Crean. You want him back?

None of that would transpire the way you’ve sketched it out. And the only “hostile” fans aren’t really worth appeasing if building the program back up is the goal.

This is his best. He has to know that it's not good enough. Is he so delusional that he can't see how bad this looks. Watching Louisville film, how did he think he could compete with that?

What’s your solution?

Fire Mike Woodson? I mean, it’s not rocket science. He’s clearly neither the short-term nor the long-term solution for IU basketball. He was supposed to be the “bridge” guy, but he has burned the bridge down. With IU’s NIL resources there’s no reason we can’t be an elite program. The only thing standing in the program’s way is the 66 year old head coach who’d rather get pizza with the fellas than meet with recruits.

Do you honestly believe Woodson wants his legacy to be that he helped run our storied basketball program into the ground and that, as long as he’s well paid, he’s fine? Do you really not understand that he loves IU and all it did for him? Do you really not understand the same about Buckner, who’s been associated with the University for over 50 years? I get that people are disappointed that the program hasn’t elevated to a national level, but some of the stuff mentioned here is really outlandish and nonsensical. Woodson will either get things going or he’ll get pushed out. Why is that so difficult for people to comprehend?

The mask is off.  Now we see your agenda.

I'm just looking at Mike and Quinn's actions.  It's been 3.5 years.  Unfortunately, it's clear they're in it for themselves.

Of course Mike will get pushed out, the question is when.  It should have been last year.  But, IUBB exists to serve Mike, so who knows how much longer this goes on.

I get you like Mike and Quinn, but it hasn't worked out and IUBB should come first.

If I had a choice between Woodson and Crean, I'd take Crean in a heartbeat... especially given the NIL/portal option with IU's resources.

Just guessing here but probably because IU has had a lousy 4 years with a head coach that had 0 college basketball coaching experience when hired for a college basketball program would be why some might be upset.  Just a guess though

I get that people want to win and that it’s not happening. They’re the same people that loved Crean and that thought Archie Miller was the right choice, as well. Hard to put much stock in what they say.

He is helping run the program into the ground and apparently he doesn't care enough to put in the work to actually change course.

His scheme sucks and he refuses to change it. The game planning looks terrible time after time so the team often looks unprepared. The players look undisciplined. The players look unmotivated. HS recruiting is almost non-existent.

Getting blown out by teams with a pulse. Closer than they should be games against lesser teams.

Those things take time and effort. Just looking at those things gives the impression that that effort isn't being made. Then there are the many stories which back that up. Hell, after a loss a picture was posted that night of him sitting around with his buddies smoking cigars and drinking wine which gives the appearance that the losses don't bother him.

When we lose, we get the same excuses over and over again which indicates that there isn't any real assessment being done of what is going wrong and how to fix it.

So what is he doing that shows he actually loves the program and doesn't want his legacy to be a bad one? I don't see it.

As for Buckner, is he not watching the games? Is he no longer able to tell the difference between good basketball and bad basketball? The problems with the team should be obvious as they're the same problems that have plagued them for the first 3 years under Woodson.

Fire him today and remove any chance of a successful season?
