Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Haha. Figuring out IF or HOW they fit together will be another train wreck.

Frankly, this whole approach Is just wrong. The fact that Woodson is here is wrong, and throwing $6M out the window to see who comes running is also just wrong. In fact, the whole thing sickens me.

But, yeah, Mike, you do you. What a self-absorbed pr!ck.

I agree that it’s all wrong. I can say that I’m a little bit envious of Purdue and can’t stand saying this.  What is their NIL cap?

Rabby is saying that should be it for the portal for Indiana.

Ware & Mgbako will declare but at least Mgbako should be back.

Reneau and Cupps coming back unless something drastically changes

Whew, getting 54% of the team out of the portal is much more doable than 62%.  I was worried there for a minute.

Dayton and a few other Ohio schools are not paying a backup PG what we are

If Woodson does land a top tier PG, Cupps will probably be benched. Of course if Woodson strikes out, the Cupps is "the man". Let's see how this plays out.

It begs the question: is he a competitor who wants to play, or does he want to cash a check?

Plus, Galloway and Leal are coming back which will scare off good guards. If Cupps returns, we have no chance of landing a guard.

We will just have run it back. Good news we might not be able to field a team that has enough players to be able to scrimmage in practice. Here is the good news part of it “Woody won’t have enough players to do his NBA/Hockey sub patterns.

MSU is in the lead for Small

I certainly did not write that I expected Woodson and IU to land the priority target...ha. Just that Small would be a target for the staff to likely whiff on. MSU has to replace Tyson Walker so I'm sure that will be an appealing landing spot.

IU has a lot working against them but they’ve got money. I was told that would be important so it should work out great

Conwell hit 86 threes this year at 40% and has 2 years left. Need him.

IU will screw it up. Rylan Conley would be a great fit though

This would work but there is just little room for error.

What would work? Sorry, I'm not sure what you are referring to. I think those three guys will be priority targets but I don't expect the staff to actually succeed in landing priority targets. I'd LOVE Ryan Conwell. He is a plus defender, great scorer, good shooter, tough and has two years left. He'd be great. Small is a high-major proven scorer and the two of them could play together in the backcourt. I don't expect IU to land either one, especially not Small.

Anyway, which thing were you saying has a small margin for error? Sorry, just not sure what you meant.

Greg Byrne, AD…doesn’t F around! Knows how to manage winning, $$$ on all levels (institutional & NIL), alum/fan support, national image/media pr and 100% gets behind schools programs. Has 100% authority to perform his job - he earned it through experience and success. Does what it takes to set up winning and proactively gets ahead and manages issues - cut his chops via  promotions to bigger AD roles progressing to bigger schools/programs. Make’s IU’s operations across the board look like amateur hour.

In no way would allow external influences to force the program’s hand to suffer through a Hail Mary by running it back w/Woody. We do this to ourselves - on going administrative malfeasance!!

What I'd like to see from our AD is what Mal Moore did at Alabama and how they pursued Saban.  Moore wasn't going to take "no" for answer and was hell bent on restoring Alabama football

My money is on cupps. A doubt a top tier point guards wants to run this offense

I was saying if we were able to land all 3 of those guys that would work for next season but it's a small margin of error if we spend our time on these guys and not land them. Then were struggling again.

But I see that you weren't saying we will land all 3

Might as well cash in on one more season and then go off. I mean he played a ton of minutes. And unless we get guards - he might still get a ton of playing time.

I don't think Cupps came to start from day 1.  He will be a contributor next year and compete to start his junior and senior years.
