I think I could be sold on Pearl.

Beard would win here, but I dont think that’ll ever happen. Does winning cure all for a fan base desperate for success? Could it be overlooked?

Outside of that, the list shrinks for me…

Overlooked? I’m the biggest RMK fan out there and his behavior was overlooked for nearly 3 decades because he won…until he didn’t.

Pearl was fired and given a show cause for lying to the NCAA about hosting a recruit at his backyard bbq. Think about that. That’s choir boy stuff these days.

The allegations against Beard are reprehensible, but at the end of the day just that. I’m a firm believer of second chances, put him on a zero tolerance policy with several outs in his contract if that behavior is ever repeated.

7 for 26 from 3.

4 for 15 from the FT line.

18 TOs.

Beat 51-40 on the glass.

You almost have to try to be that bad.

Were they blindfolded?  Anyone who plays regularly can probably hit 4/15 FT's with their eyes closed, so that has to be it.  Right?

Bruce Pearl would have taken this job 3 times over by now and he still has a ton more in the tank.

Chris Beard has proven he’s one of the best coaches in the country. He’s not an Ole Miss lifer.

I’d settle for Porter Moser.

Dusty May and Shrewsbury both have infinitely higher ceilings than Woodson and would at least construct a competent roster and run functioning sets. Not sure either are ready for this job yet.

But you wouldn’t have to ask anybody else if Pearl and Beard were your 1st or 2nd options.

With our holier than thou tendency there's no real chance of Pearl and there's a better chance I'll wake up a billionaire than there is of IU even considering Beard.

May is probably the best we could hope for.

Ready for Friday. This game was absolutely garbage like alot of our games this season. The fact is like Woodson would say man we just got to get better! Let's hope and pray that happens because this was disappointing. Let's beat some gophers!

Woody’s knowledge of what IU basketball “means” and “is” is unmatched. His respect for Coach Knight is unparalleled. Two great assets that I would want in the IU HC. Something that I think that has been lacking in recent hires. However, having these assets are on the brink of failure of producing the return to IU past Glory Days. I love Woody and am still hoping the ship can be righted. Although, the current elephant(s) in the room are substitutions, TO’s, fundamentals (blocking out), foul shooting, shooting, and lock down defense….. just to name a few.

One more thing is Team chemistry. Do we have a good Team chemistry? I can’t tell. Looks like we have some surface Team chemistry. How deep does it go? Does X make us more cohesive or not?

Hoping we get better quickly or this winter is going to be a heck of lot more longer and colder.

We’ve got a good coach. We’ve got talented players.

It’s a lot simpler game when you start playing with Heart and Energy.

GET IT TOGETHER HOOSIERS….. LET’S GOOOOOO!!

My issue with Woody at this point is his inability to adapt.  His ego or whatever won’t let him.  And thus, like most coaches he’ll fail.  He keeps saying “we gotta” but they never do.  There is a sparkle here and there, but then it’s back to the same old thing.

This is the first time I have said this. CMW lost us that game yesterday.  We weren’t playing well but neither was Rutgers, and we were just starting to get our footing offensively that allowed us to build a 7 point lead, then came the stupid substitutions.  That totally lost whatever footing and momentum we had and that allowed Rutgers to gain confidence against our subs and we never got it back. He should have brought guys in slowly.  Rutgers is horrible and that was a winnable road game but instead he coached like we were playing Army.  Honestly, I can’t wait for Galloway and Xavier Johnson to leave.  One can’t hit shots outside of 5 feet and the other is a freaking head case and these two are our team captains and are supposed to provide leadership, pathetic

He apparently can't accept college is different than NBA or no one has told him. He needs to stagger subs not a full line change. And the lineup that's -22 on the year should never see the floor again.

Sad thing is we still could've won if we didn't give up a million second chances, a huge problem the staff still hasn't fixed. And we just gave up another offensive board.

XJ is the same punk he was at Pitt. Couple posters on here were adamant we should want XJ. No, we shouldn't have.

He isn't a dog, he isn't anything but a complete liability.

He's got the physical tools, but I've said he has the mental stability of a bag of rats in a house fire and I stand by that. Negative plays can snowball with him and single handedly lose you the game.

It's like people let a good BTT run overshadow who he's been the rest of his career.

I love everything about coach Woodson except I am just not confident he is a good coach! I love everything he says and everything he stands for about iu. I just feel like some guys can coach at a high level and he just isn't one of them imo

After the Nebraska game one of the familiar Twitter accounts put up a graphic showing how many times Woody’s teams have had double digit losses. It was more than the Archie era and part of the Crean era combined.

I don’t know what to make of that stat or what drives it. But it really sort of colors how we look at the last 2.5 years because when we lose it usually looks really bad out there.

Glad I didn't bother getting Peacock.

On that note, if you've got it keep it tuned in to watch Purdue win a road game.

They're everything we wish we were right now. Tough, consistent, and most of all: winning.

Check out this guy with the reverse jinx!

SMH!!!

......I respectfully disagree!

>>>>>>In the BIGTEN Rutgers is......

 - #1 in scoring defense

- #2 in allowing opponent FG %

- #5 in allowing 3pt. FG's

- #5 in team rebounding

- #1 player overall in blocked shots (Omoruyi)

Offense in terrible,.....however, like they always say, "Defense Wins Games!"

I sorta think Doyel is a tool, but man -- he's spot on with this assessment of how we let a winnable game get away after a nice stretch in the first half. I remember thinking when it was 27-27 with the ball, the very worse we'd have is a halftime tie. But X proved otherwise. He didn't pass the ball once. Not once. Well, he passed it to Rutgers. And he's the PG.

I foolishly thought he had turned the corner in the OSU game. He's had stretches of brilliant play at IU, but so far, not this season -- until the OSU game. I thought that was a sign he was back. Wow, was I wrong.

Sigh ...

IU starts slowly, with Johnson committing two of its three turnovers in the first four minutes as Rutgers opens an early 7-2 lead, but the Hoosiers battle back — in part because they’re capable of playing well at times, and in part because Rutgers (9-6, 1-3) is arguably the worst team in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers go on a 14-2 run for a 16-9 lead.

And here comes the second unit.

Woodson starts removing starters until he’s down to one, and Rutgers keeps whittling the lead until its down to none. Woodson puts his starters back into the game for the final minutes of the half, and IU has the ball with 27 seconds left, holding for the last shot, with the score tied at 27.

So how did the Hoosiers go into halftime trailing 30-27?

In a word: Xavier.

In a sentence: Xavier Johnson gets the ball out of a timeout with 27 seconds left, dribbles until there are five seconds left, whereupon he loses the ball and Rutgers goes the other way and hits a 30-footer at the buzzer.

IU never led again.
