Did you notice the sound system being very quiet or is it just me? The crowd wanted to get into it but every time they'd get going IU would give up an offensive rebound or foul. It was incredibly deflating. Agree though crowd was weak.

Didn’t notice anything about the sound. Deflating is a great way to explain how I felt about the energy up until about 8 minutes left.

Ware seemed slow, weak. I, too, think CV19 played a part in that. Two yrs later and I still have breathing and strength/endurance issues. But I'm 70 yrs old, not a 20 yr old athlete. Give him a couple of weeks to fully recover.

Luckily I am in my late 20s, but yeah, took me like 1-2 weeks to fully recover when I got it. Still felt weak around my legs

Happy to get the conference win against a good OSU team, should be a Q2 win right? Considering OSU is likely going to finish top 5ish of the B10, it's a solid W. Didn't really play great in a lot of phases of the game, but if we keep turnovers low, we'll give ourselves a shot most of the time. The rebounding is just atrocious. Need more from Mack and Ware (Reneau too but he was solid yesterday). Hopefully Ware is just still getting better from COVID. Mack played 13 mins last night... I'm not trying to start narratives but I would seriously not bet too much on him being back next year, one way or another. Personally I can see how Mgbako/Gunn/Banks could all reasonably feel they're not being set up for success/mins are herky jerky. Don't want to make this too much of a discussion at this time of year.

I was admittedly very harsh on XJ yesterday and he made a huge difference this game. He is our best guard there's no denying that.

There are valid reasons to be optimistic and valid reasons to be pessimistic about this team at this rate. Get a win at Rutger and I'll feel a little more warm and fuzzy. it just looks like they only really play hard in front of the home crowd or after an a$$ chewing for the most part. A lot of confusion between the players at times. I want to see some consistency from these guys as a team and individually.

And they need someone to step up and be a leader. Clearly that should be guys like X, Gallo and even Leal. Apart from the roster construction, bigs that don’t rebound, free throw shooting and Woody’s ability to get out coached, this the biggest flaw.

Especially on the defensive end and rebounding.  The turnovers and our offense was pretty good. I know Reneau scored the ball but there were times I thought he forced it in a crowd, but was able to finish, that may not always happen.  I thought we hit some timely 3’s.  I agree, Ware and Mgbako need to play better

Watching X in the first half dribbling and pointing people to spots for 15 seconds of a 30 second shot clock numerous times about drove me mad.

Lots of things to blame

Second half felt a bit more free flowing in choice and it seemed to gel better.

Off the wall Q. Can someone explain what happened with the opening tip? It looks like KW clearly got the tip and X got the ball at the sideline. The ref blew his whistle. I thought X must have stepped out of bounds but the ref gave it to us to inbound. I didn’t understand that. What did I miss?

I guessed that it was an inadvertent whistle? Did you notice that same ref doing a little "gotta get warm" shuffle-run just after? If it was inadvertent, it wasn't the only blatantly wrong anticipation call during that game.

Was at the game and didn’t have the clearest view there, but I was told a fan touched the ball, therefore it was ruled out of bounds.

He does high knees all game.  Been doing it for a while in all the games that ref does

That ref strutted around like that several times.  Reminded me of TV Ted.

I asked when it happened what the whistle was for after the jump. Still no definitive answer. What is the weird histepping refs name?

I hope it's that, but I am not sure Ware has the a$$ to play inside in the Big10.  Need to get some biscuits or something in him.  It's not like they are going to start calling fouls.

I wish that Reneau wasn't so foul prone and you could have him play the 5 on defense and Ware the 4.

Shot clock started on the tip instead of possession. If you watch it again you’ll notice they reset the shot clock to 29 from 26 I believe.
