Unless he has a gear we haven’t seen yet.  But these guys doing the stars suck.

It’s kind of odd in that the guys that rank HS players tend to overweight natural athletic ability but MM, who I think can be a good player for us, is “stiff” in his movements, doesn’t have good hands in traffic, doesn’t rebound outside of his area, isn’t fast/smooth/athletic in transition and seemingly eats the ball 50% of the time he tries (in a cumbersome fashion)  to take it to the hole. ie. not a 5* type of “athlete”.

His FT stroke is awesome and it would be, or will be, great if that stroke transitions to the perimeter.

Yep  a 1 pt win against the Ohio Valley preseason favorite is a Q3 home win which is better than a 1 pt home loss which would have been a Q 3 loss.   I feel the same about this team as I did at the beginning of the year.   Flawed basketball team that will be a borderline tourney team
You honestly think we can play like this and do well in the big ten? The level of played is going to ned to be raised big time

Don’t get me wrong.  I think the kid has the potential to be an excellent player — tops in the Big10.  But I do think he needs a few years in college though to make that next level. And that’s good for US.  Right now he looks tentative and uncomfortable.

He wasn't known for his athleticism when we were recruiting him. McNeeley isn't either, he's skilled and gets by on understanding positioning and angles.

I guess in my book a true five star has above average athleticism plus refined skills and a history of success.  Kind of the whole package.

I agree with you.
He does look tentative/uncomfortable which is probably means he is thinking too much.  I think he will be good but was making a point/opinion that he doesn’t seem to be as naturally athletic as you would expect from a “typical” 5*.

Probably doesn't help he's more of a 4 at this level than a 3.

Sure.  The B1G stinks.  Middle of the B1G is full of flawed teams like IU.   Northwestern best Purdue at home and then lost to Chicago St at home while being ranked.  Sparty lost to James Madison(good team) at home.   Do I think IU is going to compete for a B1G title? No I don’t think they will.  However they don’t need to compete for one to be a borderline tourney team.  Plenty of flawed teams find their way into the tournament every year so I don’t see why this IU team can’t find their way in with the B1G being down.

So a 1 point win against a garbage team is better than a 1 point loss?  Phew...I feel better now.  Extensions all around!

I see hyperbole is in full effect.

no one is happy with a one point win over morehead state.  But if you don’t think putting one in win column was better than putting one in the column, then I don’t know what to say.

They beat Purdue twice, they might.  Tall order though.

Isn't they way they won the quad 4 games going to hurt them with the committee.

Committees are a joke.

For college football and college basketball.

Just have robots pick the seeding so we dont get any of the committee bias.

Oh. And here in LA, UCLA just lost to CSUN (thats Cal State Northridge) at HOME.

Wait...a win is better than a loss?  Why do people keep saying that?  Is this true?

It took him some time but I see no problem with that. He definitely shouldn't have left high school early. But I'd take him on IU right now.

Maybe he could help some right now, I don’t know. Lord knows we need guards.

But people would’ve freaked out if he sat the bench for 2 years to develop as a 5-star. Just based on his rankings people would be saying Woody can’t develop him or there’s some conspiracy as to why he never plays.

I’ve never really got the reclassify thing, but he would’ve struggled even if he didn’t come a year early.
