Hoping we have few injuries and Tayven can make a big leap. Could even see Cherry fill in if needed later in the season if he comes along quickly. WR room is just... hard to explain how deep that is. The transfers we got are not bad at all, and if Cross can make it work in the slot-- that's a like a Deebo Samuel playing there. (that type of body, YAC type guy) We've seen McCulley is a flat out problem if you single cover him, epecially against teams NOT OSU, PSU, and UM lol idk. I'm pretty excited. iuthruandthru, MemphisHoosier and thebigweave 3 Quote
cthomas Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 About as excited about IU football as I have been since..... well, it's been a very long time. This program has needed a coach with swagger who can sell it to the players. CCC has a plan and believes in it. We are not on a multiyear rebuild. We are on a win NOW plan. I love it. The last time I was excited about IU Football was when ARE was QB and playing for Coach Cam. He was a highlight reel almost every game....... Unfortunately, our defense was bad. Quote

IUFB doesn't have to be a juggernaut in any one particular area, just have to be at least solid everywhere. I think where IUFB has missed the boat over the years is not building the team for playmakers but building around playmakers. It's difficult for any QB, WR, RB, CB to make plays if you don't have decent lineman and good special teams (field position). I think the CTA era is the epitome of this. They had a couple good OL lineman, but for the most part it was always the main issue on both sides. Quote

I will say... our punter currently is excellent haha thebigweave and OGIUAndy 2 Quote
Hoosierfan222 Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 I definitely still feel like our front 7 is a weak point… we got bullied up front in a few games last year, especially by Rutgers, not a lot of reason to believe that will fundamentally change… Carpenter was a very good Sun Belt D Lineman but he’s small. but this is the most talented offense we’ve had since that Covid year. I honestly think a Smith/Kidwell/Katic/Stephens/Wedig offensive line has the potential to be pretty solid, assuming that’s what we roll with. Quote

On my most recent check, Louisville felt good about him. Poor man's Rondale Moore, so I could certainly see the fit there. Edit: looks like he was recently at Miss State. Closer to home and their recruiting coordinator was at IU when Jaylin came in. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote

Howland will get touches but I'm guessing most in situational down and distances. Quote

CSP Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Catching punts is hard af lol ... not sure if anyone else on here has ever had the misfortune of having to catch them in a game, but yeah, not too easy. MemphisHoosier, Artie86 and thebigweave 3 Quote
