Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Bethune Cookman - Thursday, 11/10/22 @ 8:30 on BTN

Recommended Posts

This is what CMW wanted to do last year. Just didn't have enough players to do it. This team is deep and talented. He can play a lot of different combinations and still be better than the other team. I'm sure we will lose a few while we are working out our optimum line ups, but this team has the talent to go a long way.

Two umbrella takeaways:

1) That was very, very fun.

2) That was against a very bad team.

Yes.
We did all we were supposed to do, it was fun to watch but I’m counting the days until we get to see what we have @ Xavier.

I've been watching for a really long time, but this is a team that I can get excited about. It is good. It has depth across the board and CMW obviously likes what he has. I haven't seen any other top ranked teams, but we look like we can compete over a game with anyone. It's going to be a fun ride. And I haven't been able to say that in a long time.

There are still many unknowns with this team but at least with the non-con schedule we'll find the answers soon. One of the things I've noticed is that Race seems to be feeling the pressure from Malik performing like he is. A # of these guys have not had the pressure of talent behind them like this. It can either push everyone to be better or make guys force things.

Gunn and Banks are going to be nice. Reneau is nice. TJD has barely broken a sweat.

Impressed by Geronimo, Galloway, Duncomb as well.

Bates lowkey needs to get his stuff together. He’s much better than he’s playing. Making a lot of metal errors. Silly stuff.

As good as I think we are, Xavier on the road is going to be tough. I’m not confident.

Same can be said for X. And Bates is playing a lot like he did in season 1. We need those 3 to step it up a bit. X was Xcellent on D tonight.

This is new territory for a lot of these kids. We haven't had a winning culture for a long time. The freshman are used to winning. The older guys not so much. This seems like a team with tremendous potential but is still trying to figure out their roles. I think CMW is doing the same thing right now. He knows he has pieces, he's just not sure yet how they fit together. We'll lose some games, but this group has a chance to go farther than any we have had for a while. With our depth, I almost look forward to the reserves getting into the game. Haven't felt that way in a long time.
