Other than Kalen and Kane... Who else was a homerun hire for him?

https://www.si.com/college/alabama/bamacentral/alabama-football-sports-science-center-high-performance-david-ballou-dr-matt-rhea

Mike Hart, Deland McCullough, Jason Jones, Kevin Peoples, and so on.

They all moved on to bigger opportunities and paychecks. Because, well, you don't care, but they were all coaching at IUFB. (Allen paid for some of his coaches with his own money.) And the program is what it is.

People forget just how loaded his staff was. It was the Hiller situation that ultimately got to where we currently are with IUFB.

Add Wellman replacing Ballou and his guys too. Ask anyone in the industry and they’ll tell you that’s a guy. Been everywhere, done everything. Still have no clue how Allen pulled that off.

He caught a bunch of weird flak when we had a run of injuries, but anyone blaming Wellman for it was plain wrong, to be blunt.

Some of the recruiting staff that no one has ever heard of are also absolute studs in that area.

Hart did do anything for us. He was a name. That was really it. We still had no run game when he was on staff. McCullough also really didn't do much for us. He got us two commitments from his sons... Who are now at Oklahoma and Cincy. Jason Jones.. was there for 2020.. but also 21 and 22 and our safeties were terrible. It was no different than any other year really. Our safeties get roasted often. Kevin Peoples.. yet another guy whose first season was 2020 like Jones... And immediately saw an absolute embarrassment of a season where the DLine was god awful like the rest of the team.... It's almost like 2020 was this crazy year where things just worked out really well and water found its level the year after.

He's got IUFB roots doesn't he?

Ok. If you say so.  All of those coaches got plucked by historically better programs than IUFB. I'm sure they're doing something right. But keep on telling yourself they weren't any good while at some of IUFB's historically best years in its entire 136 year history.

Well they weren't homerun hires if they didn't really do anything for us. Getting plucked after bad seasons doesn't make them homerun hires. Success makes them homeruns.

You obviously aren't reading their resumes and when they were coaching here.

I honestly think if IUFB was currently ranked 1 and undefeated you would find something wrong with the coach. Lol.

Their resumes at Indiana? Sweet. They had a good year in 2020.. what happened in 2021? I guess forget the complete implosion of the program right? Peoples was only at Indiana for 20 and 21. Jones here for 20, 21, 22. McCullough there for 21. Hart was there from 2017-2020. By far the best assistant Allen has had outside of DeBoer and Wommack. Then if you want.. can't forget Darren Hiller, Nick Sheridan, Charlton Warren, Walt Bell. Allen hasn't had success overall with assistants. Period. Allen is a god awful coach in every aspect of the game.

Totally agree with this and he can't be gone soon enough! I can't stand his antics on the sideline and the results verify that he is totally incompetent. Terrible coaching, terrible hires, and terrible won/loss record.

I want the Hoosiers to win but, I would rather they would lose out to guarantee Alllen is sent packing.

If IU wins out(including a bowl game), I MIGHT change my tune on CTA a tad.  I hope(and pray) that we do win 'em all so that I am put in that position

I wish I didn't feel this way, but it would be nice if he had the vision to make the necessary changes BEFORE his back was against the wall. I'll believe last Saturday wasn't a fluke if they don't crap the bed this week. He hasn't given anyone any reason to believe he can sustain success.

Therein lies the overall problem. We've looked good a couple of weeks against good to not so good teams, but against other "good" or "not so good" teams we were not competitive for more than a quarter. How do they compete on the road a against a top ten team but get destroyed at home by other average to below average programs?  It's hard to pinpoint besides CTA since he's the lead guy. I guess just the number of new players we brought in? But that seems to be the way it's going to be every year, so if that's an issue, they need to figure out how to get everyone on the same page a lot quicker. I understand what CTA brought to the program, but consistency or "optimism" hasn't been here for 3 seasons. We're always 3-6 or worse with our backs against the wall, never .500 with a reasonable chance to go to a bowl game without having to "win out". But if he wins out I will be the first to come here and kiss his arse. It's very doable, none of the teams left have a powerhouse offense so we should be able to actually win a game or two, I would be amazed if we won two games on the road.

You have literally just described the entire 136 year history of IUFB. Lol.

Aside from the gauntlet first half of the schedule, letting go of Bell and making a hard decision on the starting QB might have been the change that started the upward swing. We'll so though, we're talking about IUFB here.

Yes I have. It's exhausting but yet here I am, still a fan and rooting on the team through the thick and the mostly thin. If CTA pulls out the last three, that would be pretty amazing considering what has transpired this season. I just don't see it, but take one game at a time. So ILL first and foremost. Do whatever you have to do to pull that one out.
