General Coach Candidate News

That's crazy talk guys.  Brad isn't coming ever.  He's perfectly content in a job where his subordinates earn 5x what he is.

I’ve heard from someone that knows Stevens that he has been frustrated by that in the past.

I was looking at the roster and if we lose those 3 in the portal but keep everyone else then it is a good roster to start with.

PG- Lander

2G- ? Hopefully get a great 6'5 shooting guard

SF- Hunter

PF- TJD

C- ? hopefully a 6'10 long and athletic center who can step out and shoot outside

Bench

RP

Leal

Galloway

Geronimo

Brunk

Duncomb

I think there's a lot of overreaction going on here. Guys entering the transfer portal should have been expected. I thought it would happen immediately, but it just got delayed about a week. These guys are doing the right thing for themselves and keeping their options open. I'd expect at least a couple of them to be back.

In regards to the coaching search taking a while, yeah I was hoping it would be Stevens like everybody else. But after that, who would people want that is available right now? The hot coaching candidates (Oats, Musselman, Moser) are still in the tournament. Beard is interesting too, and it sounds like they've reached out to him now, but IMO there's no reason to rush this if Dolson is actually interested in one of the guys still in the tournament. I don't think any of the players in the portal are going to commit to a school in the next week, and I would guess they're going to want to be back if they're excited about the coach. So yes, Dolson needs to nail the hire, but I don't think he should feel like there's a time crunch.

I think the fact that the guys entered the transfer portal this week is evidence that the coaching search has turned.  Scott obviously told them something to make them sit tight, but now with the Matta rumors, and possible Woodson, who knows, the kids have gotten antsy.

Not trying to single you out, but I'd like to see us keep the anxiety to a minimum. Other fanbases are taking great pleasure in seeing us sweat this out, and some of them are trying to create as much doubt and confusion as possible to stir the pot.

I can honestly say I'm neither anxious nor impatient. I'm also not terribly optimistic either.

That's what surviving the Sampson, Crean and Miller searches can do to a guy....

What do you think of that dude? Is he just a crazy dude?

I’m not sure. He’s consistent so he’s either a major troll or he thinks he really knows something. At times there’s things with Stevens and this search that make we wonder if he isn’t still the focus of Dolson. Then I go back to thinking there’s no way.

I guess I haven't heard about this guy who still thinks it is Stevens

Wow, not only are you a little inaccurate (i.e. ALL CAPS WITH THE WRONG AGE) but there are some crap skewed takes in there:

"Not even a winning percentage as a head coach in the NBA playoffs." lol

Here's what he did as an NBA head coach; he took awful teams and got them WAY better:

Between 2008-09 and 2013-14, Woodson accumulated a record of 209-143 as head coach—a win percentage of .594. He led the Atlanta Hawks to three postseason appearances, including a 50-win season in 2009-10 and two playoff series victories.

Yes, it's true that he hasn't been in the college game; I believe it will be necessary for him to have a young, college game grinder on staff.

Otherwise, this would be a guy that would be a pleasure to root for. Would it work? Beats me, but maybe.

While there's a lot to be said for an experienced Woody, sometimes an old Woody doesn't work out as well as expected. Everyone wants a successful Woody but doubts remain that this Woody is up to the task.

But then you have Durham, who entered the transfer portal the day Archie was fired. I doubt they're sharing much information with the players. Way too easy for a leak when 10-12 college-aged kids and social media are involved.

He’s been adamant about the 27th since before Archie was even fired.

Is he someone who has posted other things that have came true because I truly doubt he knows anything.

I want Phil Jackson to come in to teach our walk-ons the triangle offense

Actually, the beauty of Phil is he doesn't "know" much about it -- he knew who to hire.  His buddy Tex Winter was the mastermind.  Phil's genius is the psychology.

I don’t know. Everyone over there writes him off. That said we’ll find out in a couple days but I give him some credit because he’s never lacked confidence even with Stevens denials.

I’m thinking Al just wanted to go home for final year. That’s all assuming he goes to UGA (which is close to home) with Crean (who recruited him). That just me assuming/guessing though
