I feel so sorry for Kathy’s spouse. I can’t imagine someone speaking to me like this all the time when we can’t decide where to get dinner lol

You think a girl like that could even get a spouse?  #runForrestRun

I responded to a post wondering if today was a good day to monitor FlightAware (I said it was not). Anything else I’ve stated has been factual, as well. Lastly, anyone who gets pissed off on a Friday because of what someone posts on an IU basketball forum needs to examine their priorities.

Thanks Cathy. Are you aware of any non-coaching candidates currently?

That sounds like you. Do you have mirrors at home?

ok but the sitting coach at UCLA isn't taking our job

Eric (Hoosier Hysterics) is friends with him. All intel pointed to Cronin being interested in IU.

Why?

From McDermott's perspective---How many people nearing the age of retirement take at best a lateral job move? And yes, Creighton is a better basketball program than IU right now. McDermott failed at his first P5 gig and then reinvented himself at Creighton, turning them into a consistent top 25 program. He has it made in Omaha doing things his way in a complete stress-free environment. Why leave a program that is currently rolling to take a job that turns and burns coaches like a temp agency? Retire a legend at Creighton or potentially be run out of town in Bloomington is something to seriously ponder.

From IU's perspective---You're about to hire your 6th coach in 25 years. Your fan base is nuts and starving for success. You have zero culture or foundation of which to work with. Do I really want to hire a guy who will be 61 when next season starts? Do I risk a guy nearing the age of retirement getting burned out in a fishbowl job if things go south?

He'd be a solid hire as he'd raise the floor and have IU making the tournament consistently. But I don't think McDermott is going to deliver you a national title in a 5-6 year span. McDermott is a bridge hire, someone that should have been hired to replace Crean. I think there's a good chance we're doing this all over again in 5-6 years if you hire McDermott.

I'm sorry.. did you just call Creighton to Indiana a lateral move? lol

I'm not reading past that. Have a nice day, or don't.

So I'm currently 3 hours and 22 pages behind.  I haven't looked forward.  I'm willing to make a bet that in the next 10 pages there will be at least 12 post from AH1971 how he is right and it's a lateral move. What is the over/under?

KathyC is obviously a huge troll, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if she/he works in academia on some level. This isn't to offend anyone on BTB who does work at a university, but it is a strange place to work if you've ever worked at a private for-profit kind of company.

Her responses kind of show some of the issues that might indicate some of the reasons why IU has sucked over the past 25 years. How she focuses on minor, unrelated things (like grammar, etc...) or emphases "process" to a comical degree - that's true. I've seen it with my own eyes.

I worked as a consultant for a couple of major universities and actually sat on a BoT for 2 smaller colleges at one time. I would almost laugh out loud at some of the issues that were brought up. It's that kind of stuff that totally goes on in college administrations that weighs down even easy decisions.

Don't get me wrong. Massive bureaucracy and groupthink and minor issues can sometimes be a huge problem at for-profit companies too (IBM in the 60s is a famous example that is taught in some biz schools), but it seems to be a regular part of life in unis today.

I wonder what kinds of crazy conversations went on behind the scenes at IU led to the hiring of Woodson? And what kinds of stupid conversations are going on right now?

Just a thought. There ARE lots of ACTUAL KathyCs in the admin of IU right now. Remember that.

She told me the fanbase was the problem. Since she uses "Spellcheck" (and maybe Grammarly) she must be the most intelligent among us.

Respectfully, I don't agree. I certainly don't think "Eric" being friends with him is any sort of indication Cronin was ever on the list.

So I have a question.  How much are people on the BoT updated on these searches?  Are they really in the loop or do they just get vague information along the way until things are close to being final?

For the last couple Quinn was involved. This one I'm guessing they are just getting an update when it is close to be finished

Not much until we get to the signing stage.  They leak everything.
