I'm going to give Kathy the benefit of the doubt here. We all know she's big on process. And she's said several times she is choosing her words carefully.

So the fact that she has, at least twice, said that we aren't talking with "active coaches" yet must mean something. There is no reason to use "active" otherwise.

So I think one can conclude that, if you believe Kathy, that means we have been talking to non-active coaches directly.

That could mean Brad or Wright. Sadly, though, that could also mean Turgeon...

Put differently, everything she is saying (unless I missed a post...which could definitely be the case), is consistent with Dolson having a verbal agreement with Brad.

Edit: Or, I guess, with Brad having turned down the position...

So much of this. The Indiana administration has been glaringly bad for a long time. Not surprised we’ve made every bad decision imaginable along the way. And now, it’s all the fans fault for our inadequacies. People making decisions that have zero to do with winning because that has not been their priority. They get caught up in the minutia or concerned with ideals either cultural or political that are more important to them. Sports are for the dumbfolk in the eyes of the academics. If only they’ve learned that they’ve been doing harm all along not only in the sports world but the real world at large too.

Good sports programs are given the freedom to operate somewhat independently from the BS of the academic side. That was part of the success that RMK had - the president and AD insulated him from all of that. It can obviously go too far - I give you SMU and UNC. LOL

But there's no way that places like Duke, OSU and Alabama would have the success that they do w/o the athletic departments being allowed to function somewhat independently.

So did Indiana not interview Shaka Smart last week as was reported here?

My guess is she’s being technical and Turnkey, the search firm, spoke with Smart (or even his agent), so technically a contractor did, not IU

nah nah...

"there have been many conversations, with many people, the details of those, I cannot disclose, but rest assured, the search firm and IU are doing their due diligence because we know how important this hire is. And we aren't having direct convos with coaches, just there have been things discussed, again, can't go into details"
