Nice to see you again.  Please go ruin someone else's day.

Nooooo glad you're here.  And it's probably better that we're let down now before CAM gets canned and we all get our hopes up!

Thanks! Good to be back.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I could be wrong and it's been a long time since I worked for the Celtics, but it's still the same people in charge and I have a sense for how they operate. They are not firing Brad Stevens, even if the Celtics end poorly this year. Though they did head into the all-star break on a 4-game winning streak now that Kemba has settled in.

On the other hand, I've had problems / concerns with CAM's way of limiting the perimeter game from the get go, we haven't been able to spread the floor not because we don't have guys who can shoot but because he devalues the outside game in a 'meta' of college basketball that demands the outside game. It's like a throw back approach and one that has bitten us in the @$$ when we lose Brunk, so back to that, CAM put us in the position of likely losing if something were to happen to a key big because he built the team around an old school front line approach without valuing the perimeter game, and that's entirely on him. So end of the day, he has dug his own proverbial grave.

^^^^ This is why he should be gone (and possibly never been hired, if known).  He's playing checkers, while everyone else is playing chess.

Is there anything behind the idea that Brooks and/or Henry could come to IU other than pure speculation? I guess I could understand Brooks with UK being a bit of a mess, but I don't know why Henry would leave MSU for his senior season.

That was something the staff was pushing that they were going to bring in a big time transfer or transfers. Maybe hoping that would give them another year.

Interesting idea but imo long shot. We have a better chance at getting big time transfers by hiring a good coach imo

I think when things were less clear this was a more compelling argument. If you could say, “we would’ve made it in ‘20, we made it in ‘21, we’re bringing back some pieces and we’re really building something by adding _____ transfer(s),” you buy yourself some cushion. Maybe that works great and you become a real destination for prime transfers or you really help yourself on the trail.

As is, though, the program has no juice if you stand pat. A new staff had a much better shot at impact transfers because they have a vision to sell, playing time may be distributed differently, etc

Perhaps the Muss Bus rolls through Bloomington and we get Justin Smith 2.0! :92:

I would guess they should cross Henry off that list.   He isn’t leaving Sparty unless it’s to go pro.   Just watch the Journey episode about him and his path at MSU.  Very good episode.

Haha! Haven't been on Btown Banners for a while. Since about the Fall (maybe summer, can't remember) every time I came to the site it would revert to some Amazon ad or something.

Nice to be back, and hope everyone is doing well!!

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on where your NBA allegiances lie, Brad Stevens is not walking through that door. The Celtics love him, and Wyc Grousbeck (the owner) and Ainge don't care about fan pressure. I was there when the entire city wanted Doc Rivers fired and it was never even a consideration in the front office. Not even a thought at all. When Wyc and Danny love you, then aren't moving on because of the fans.

Welp, time to turn your Amazon ad redirect back on.

Dream killer.  Ha thanks for the input and good to see you back. My son is a Celtic fan and said pretty much the same thing but your perspective from being on the inside certainly carries more weight.

Agree.

If a change is made, I might not agree with the choice, but I will still support him and the team (unless it's Pearl -- LOL). I grew up in Indiana and am an IU alum, and that's not going to change.

I'm not understanding all the declarations that if we hire so and so, they're not following the program anymore. Or, a declaration that one is so disgusted, they didn't watch yesterday's game. Or the Michigan game. Or they won't watch what's very likely our only B1G tourney game.

If you don't want to follow the program any longer or don't have any desire to watch the games, that's fine. Don't. That's your prerogative. But coming on here -- or on a FB page -- and making such a "dramatic" announcement really isn't necessary. Frankly, it's kind of silly.

Only Sam Story makes those kind of declarations!

I would like Dolson, with the advice of Buckner and a few other basketball minds choose whoever the hell they want without any fear or pressure from the fanbase or media.

in the end, his tenure at IU will be judged, fairly or not on this hire, he has to follow his gut along with the advice of a close circle of basketball minded folks.

if it’s Steven’s, amazing, if it’s Drew, amazing, if it’s Gates, amazing, Fife, amazing idk. Blaze your own trail my man

Dolson may be new in the hiring role but he has to have a lot of contacts at the college level. Good to hear we seem to be reaching out to a few people and hope he gets his guy. Hoping his hire is not limited due to the poor performances of the prior coaches and the need to have bought them out.

Since the buyout currently equals 100% of remaining salary, one way to take the money being there is that there’s at least enough pledged for the buyout. Probably some more to call on if you can land a big fish — folks who’d balk at a big donation earmarked for the buyout but who could be convinced to throw in to up the salary for the next coach, or to buy the next coach out of his current contract elsewhere.
