Chances were here again in 3-4 years? I’ve got 50/50.

I'll be the heretic on this one and say that IF we hire Brad Stevens - and I'm highly skeptical - we will be doing this again in no more than 5 years.  IMO he's a man who needs a challenge and will get bored being back on the sidelines as a college coach.  In some respects, I view him as a turnaround specialist.  He's the guy that goes in and cleans up the last guys mess and then moves on and in Brad's case likely back to the NBA.

He was butler’s head coach for 6 years and has now been with Boston for 13.  Not sure how that is a guy that leaves quickly.

That would imply that he turned IU around. I could live with that.

I'd guess a 20% chance we have a coach search in 3-4 years.

1) Most of the factors that caused us to make bad hires over the last 25 years are not present this time around.  It's been pretty well sourced this is Scott's show and Trustees/Donors/Presidents that don't know what they are doing are not meddling this time around.

2) Scott proved he can make a good hire 15 months ago.  I'm not sure what else can be more reassuring right now, he literally just successfully did what we need him to do right now.

3) We have never held a coach search when IUBB can offer top-5 player payroll resources.  Also, many athletic depts outside the B1G and SEC are struggling as the revenue share cost hits this year.  The IU job is more appealing than it has been historically.  Coaches can afford a materially better roster at IU than they can at many other schools.  This should help.

Let’s try and keep the Woodson talk to a minimum please and thank you.    I know this thread is the fun place and we let a lot go however let’s try and keep it about the candidates for the new coach.

Otz

Drew

McDermott

Williams  my order as of today however subject to change

What if we extend Mike Woodson?  :)

The Coach Cig and Woody hires tell me Dolson isn’t worried about age.

I think Dolson is only really looking at 4-6 year windows.

I want a upper 40’s lower 50’s guy myself but Dolson getting another 60 year old wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

He didn’t hire or want Woodson.

I kind of get what you are saying, and realize I am speaking from personal preference, but I don't get the draw of the NBA to coaches and Execs. But to me, watching the NBA is tough. Its some mix of athletes and professional wrestling with a hoop at each end.

I think most fans would take that - give us five years.  Feels like it would be better than the last 8 (at least).

Kinda random question @Chris007. I've been lurking this season but logged in for the first time in forever today. You had some post around the Sam Story talk about what the "HC guys" were saying. What does that stand for? Hoosiers Connect? Was bothering me more than it should that I couldn't figure it out at the time

Yes HC is Hoosier Connect.
