The revenue sharing cap is the same, regardless of conference. The difference is that the B1G and SEC schools will likely go to the cap. The B12 and ACC schools may also, but it would be harder for them to do.

Where IU gets the edge is that they've said they'd take the B1G average (or maybe it was the median?) going to basketball and double that. So they're willing to commit a larger percentage of the revenue share with basketball while many schools will be concentrating on football.

IU has also shown that they have a large pool of NIL money for the basketball team.

In addition, the large amount of money coming in to the athletic department means that they should be able to at very least keep up if not exceed other conferences in terms of facilities, pay, other staff positions such as GM to make coaching life a bit easier, etc.

I would think football moving forward is going to be emphasized with rev share also, so not sure how all that will balance under the $20.5M cap.  And while yes, there’s been healthy NIL for basketball, the NCAA is looking to monitor collectives more closely to be certain the cap isn’t being violated with “pay for play”.  In other words, those contracts will be examined more closely to be sure the student athlete is “earning” the $$.

Born in Washington state... only jobs are Gonzaga (asst) and Arizona (HC) ... so yeah, west of the rockies... but not sure there's anything magical about it...

From his wikipedia page:

Yea, Lloyd grew up in rainy Washington state and right now he is 1,200 miles away from that in the hot Tucson desert.  There aren’t any good CBB gigs in the PNW (Zags have an internal guy lined up) and he is already far from home.

Does he want our sweet sweet NIL/rev share and conference stability?  I hope so.  AZ athletics have some financial issues that probably impacts their usually good NIL, and his fit with the AZ AD is supposedly iffy.

It's about time. We have been fighting for this for years. I don't really know what that means but great and good job.

Is my sarcasm detector broken or has this actually been an issue lol, I never noticed it when I had to change my profile picture to its current ogre-ness.

Today was the first I've ever heard of it. I figured you must have owed them a favor since you fixed it so quickly

Well, I did dream and shared here, Gard was interested.  I have had a few dreams come true.  Does that count?

I still believe we already have our guy.  It's just too quiet and Dolson has known this change was coming for months.

Steve Alford as Mr Unexpected?

Tom Crean?

Tom Izzo?

Fran?

Cal?

Altman?

Shrewsberry?

So many possibilities and most of them not good.

The way it was presented was that IU is still a very desirable top 10 job with a lot of resources.  So it makes me think it's somebody more like Mark Few.
