I will never understand these type of arguments. Tom Crean got fired for a lot of things.

But his inconsistency was one. His last 6 years, Crean finished 5th, 1st, 8th, 7th, 1st and 10th in the B1G. Like everything else about his tenure at IU, he was massively schizophrenic and inconsistent.

When he won the B1G, he proved that he could never get past the Sweet 16.

His recruiting was also massively trending down at that point.

Crean had shown the world who he was by then - a mediocre coach.

Don't forget that Crean was one quirky dude.

Mick Cronin has coached over 700 games. And hasn’t had much tournament success to show for it. I hope we can get someone better.

Who is to say that going to IU isn’t the thing that makes the youngest active coach to get to 500 wins to become an elite coach.  The guy is already considered a top 15 coach in the game today be some outlets.   Cronin wanted no part of the job the last it was open so not sure if anything has change on that front.    Not sure why any sitting B1G and SEC would want to come to a rebuild opportunity of a mid  level B1G team (results wise)if they have it rolling elsewhere.  History tells you IUs coach will come from a level down

Hate Brownwell all you want but maybe hiring a coach that respects the history of IU basketball and knows how important the state of Indiana can be to recruiting might not be a bad thing.   He isn’t going to be the first or even the 5th choice however there are plenty of other crappy routes IU could go.   Getting a sitting ACC coach wouldn’t be the end of the world.   Give me a lifer and grinder and I will give them a chance to prove me or anyone else wrong

The first half of this is what we were told to sell us on the current coach.  Sorry, it's not going to work again.

That’s  cool but unlike the last coach Brownwell has been involved with the college basketball game as a coach for more than 30 years.  They had to sell you on that for Woody because he had 0 years in the college basketball game.
