The University and its fans continue to hold onto this outdated perception of the programs value and status in the college basketball world. We have accomplished little to nothing over the last 30+ years….. so little that the only people who view us as a blueblood are Indiana fans and people like Dick Vitale….

The elitist attitude and moral superiority of the university and fans, is frustrating. It’s really wearing thin on me, honestly. 

So many of the fans refuse to extend grace to any coach with any known past transgressions. As if they are completely irredeemable…There are people on this site who still despise Kelvin Sampson and would adamantly say they wouldn’t want him. 

I’m not calling you out individually. I appreciate a lot of your posts and perspective on most things. Again…Just exhausted from people not extending any grace to anyone that’s not a saint.

The way I see it, is that IU doesn’t have anything to lose. We are at the absolute rock bottom, when you consider our history and where we are now. We’ve won 5 titles,  haven’t won one in nearly 40 years, and have no legitimate reasons to believe we will be able to compete for one in the next 2-5 years….. or beyond… unless this hire is absolutely nailed. 
 

If we hire a guy that’s is clearly below Beards level, than I personally don’t know that I’ll be able to give much more attention and support to the program. It will be officially dead to me. I’m sick of the false hope. I need to see action at this point.

Just had a long sit down with a buddy getting a full update. As of now the plan is to have brad sign the contract on March 2nd. He wants to essentially finish his season as a GM with the Celtics which mainly ends in March 1st as a GM. The verbal agreement still stands but he does not want any announcement until after that point. So the signing Monday won't occur but this is all but locked down. Contract is 6 years 67 million and brad has an option to extend to 10 years after year 3. Includes promises towards IU funded NIL and assistant pools but I don't know the value behinds those numbers. 

Just be patient. Hate me because of Goodman's tweet but there is a reason for all this optimism and it's that Brad still is a verbal agreement with IU and both IU and Stevens camp agree to all contract terms.

Lemme get this straight:

- SD and BS meet in NM to cook some blue meth to honor Jesse and Walter

- During the cooking or smoking they decide they need to team up and win a ship

- They then go back to their respective homes (1,000's of miles away)

- Through the next few days they take appx 28 flights between Bmgt, Miami, Bedford, Indy and Philly

- After said flights BS then begins to counter SD's contract proposal 

- SD then sends a revised contract, no BOT approval needed to BS via email to docusign....because who can make a 29th trip? Amirite?

- BS says yeppers you got a deal but I can't sign until an arbitrary date of March 2nd because I don't want it leaked. Clearly because he can't trust the guy he is agreeing to work for, for at minimum the next 6 years to keep quiet

Am I close to understanding all of this?

The most rose colored glasses view is that if Steven's had already verbally agreed to the job and has the contract he wouldn't technically be a candidate at that point; the job would be his. 

I don't think he would do that to Goodman personally, but if he didn't want any info getting out, you would have to be tricky with your words, similar to that.
