AZ Hoosier Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 I'd love to see Dolson toss a bag at Otzelberger... it's an incredible long shot, but if Brad Stevens is a "no" and Dusty says "no", why not? You can never hire the dude you don't ask to be your coach. Parakeet Jones and 8bucks 2

Declaring coaches successful 20 games in is effectively silly. You think that’s silly? To call the new, big money, pressure cooker , new roster, great system coach of UK a success so far? You are making a completely transparently disingenuous argument. 1. First state that “IU is going to end up hiring some up and coming coach because that’s all they can get … and he’s going to get boo’d off campus sometime in year 2 or 3 because he doesn’t have the chops to handle a powder keg. 2. Then, when given examples from two of the ten most pressurized jobs in the country that are succeeding greatly, dismiss those as ‘too soon to tell.” And “let’s get Wade!” As if Wade would be a sure or better-odds of success thing lol. If you want to be the contrarian even in the face of all logic? That’s your prerogative. But it’s a bad look IMO. go iu bb, mamasa, cybergates and 4 others 7

We should’ve hired him back when we hired Woodson. He would’ve been an actual “bridge coach” because he, you know, wins. Everywhere he’s been. It’s too late now. I don’t have high hopes with this hire.

Guess who was 15-5 ranked in the top 10 in the country at this juncture last year? Yeah, that’s right the guy whose head UK fans wanted on a platter last year. That’s why they ended up with Pope. As always is the case with Kentucky, it comes down to March. We’ll see how UK fans view Pope heading into next season will they inevitably bow out in the R32 here next month. As far as Pat Kelsey goes, he’s done an admirable job so far. Good for him. There was literally nowhere to go but up for that program. He seems like a good dude, we’ll see if he can build and sustain any type of success.

To succeed at IU as a coach, you need: a) high level basketball acumen b) the personality, the chops, the demeanor to handle the noise. You need both, you aren’t goin to succeed with just one. Will Wade, in my opinion, has both…that’s why he’s my top choice as he is one of the few coaches with A and B who actually take this job. And I’m not saying there isn’t a mid-major out there who doesn’t have it, but there are few and far in-between. It’s a crapshoot. Stuhoo 1

Unexpectedflash Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 I would love Dennis gates. Underrated aspect is he has the personality for the job I think. Knows how to use the transfer portal as evidenced by turning his team around after a horrible one last year. Modern basketball also cybergates 1

They’re a subpar defensive team that’s over-reliant on the 3 point line, a recipe for disaster in the tournament. That and Mark Pope has been a disaster in the tournament.
