we’re going to make it two full days with Archie staying! The train stays rolling!

LOL

I’m sure I missed it. But what has Archie accomplished at IU that makes you a fan of his? I’m sure he is a great person but that’s not worthy of being a fan of him keeping his job.

Yes,

With this years unusual transfer and eligibility rules this could potentially be one of the best times EVER  to make a coaching change. The right coach could possibly get some impact guys quickly while I highly  doubt “dead man walking” Archie will be able attract quality transfers.

Without question. I’m hoping this is a big reason we (most of us) get what we want

To be clear I’m ready for change but only if it’s the correct change.

I think he’s the best X’s and O’s Coach we since Sampson and maybe Knight. Obviously not better than Knight, but he knows basketball. That’s why I like him. He’s a basketball coach. Just hasn’t won here and his recruits haven’t panned out.

I am an Archie fan too, Always have been. I thought he would do well here but it’s not the case. I think he is a good person and has represented the university well. Unlike the last two coaches there has been no off the court controversies and he has recruited great kids. But in the end He has failed here on the court. Miserably.

I will always root for him, just will be a lot easier to root for him as a coach of another team.

It’s time for him to go. If he is back I will support him, but like most I will not expect anything different than what we have seen. It will take a Major turnaround next year for me to think he deserves to coach here. I mean major.

He’s the worst coach in almost a century of IU hoops in his four years, I don’t know how on earth people could support him coming back. He’s nowhere near Sampson, who’s been successful at Oklahoma, Would of been here had it not been for a dumb rule the ncaa changed two years later and now at Houston he’s been doing great. Crean won two outright big ten titles so regardless of his traits or likability he at least won something. Archie has a brief successful stint at Dayton that’s it, I’m not sure how he’s considered some great coach when he’s been awful at his first big job.

I was a student when Sampson was there and he could flat out coach and didn’t even need the phone call problem. When you look at what has gone unpunished at UNCheat and other places it’s frustrating we got hit so hard for telling on ourselves.

In ten years at OU he made the tourney 9 times, won 3 Big 12 conference tournament titles, and 1 Regular season title. Also made 3 S16’s, 2 EE’s, and 1 final four. Now at Houston he’s made four straight well three since last year tourney appearances barely losing in the S16 two years ago.

Fair enough. I can’t say I agree. He may know X’s and O’s to a degree but he doesn’t know roster construction or how to build for the modem game. Recruiting/roster construction is his biggest issue and it hasn’t been fixed for 4 years.

Not bashing anybody, but I've always found it hugely ironic that at the top of Kelvin Sampson's list of achievements is a trip to the Final Four.

Where he lost to ... Mike Davis.

I thought Hollis Price was so good that tourney and wish we had him at IU but I’m still thankful he picked the IU game in the tourney to have a stinker

Speaking of Davis, he was over .500 in conference in each of his last 2 seasons, something Miller hasn't even managed once.  He's doing worse than Davis did with his own players, that should be cause enough.

Also a reason to resign in embarrassment.

We’d have an extra banner or 2 hanging alongside the other 5 of Sampson had continued being the coach. People can say what they want from their moral ivory tower. He was the best coach since knight and what he did at ok or IU doesn’t make him an immoral human, like many IU fans try to make him out to be. I wish we had him back honestly.

I'm not sure IU fans make him out to be immoral, but he committed infractions at Oklahoma and was told to knock that crap off when he got to IU. But instead, he continued and landed the program in a sh-t heap of trouble. Plus, he recruited some pretty questionable dudes to B-town.

But I will agree with you on this -- "I wish we had him back honestly." ... If he did things honestly, we likely wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

We’ve discussed it to its death at this point but I think his recruiting just went the total opposite. Phin was a bust. Hunter, Anderson, Jake, and Evan all turned out to be busts.

Losing Justin Smith didn’t help. Losing Joey Brunk didn’t help. Al being inconsistent and Kristian being not ready just didn’t help as well. Not excuses, he hasn’t won period. But the players were busts.

This freshman class will be good so that’s good. Kristian will be fine. Recruiting comes down to luck as well. The players we got should’ve been better, they weren’t!

To expand on this, Davis was over .500 overall in 5 of 6 seasons (granted first couple were Knight's players), .500 or better in conference every year but 1, made the NCAA 4 times with atleast 1 win 3 times, and was in NCAA 2nd round his last year.

We'd have people wanting to extend Miller for the results that we wanted Davis run out of town for.

Archie Miller is worse than Mike Davis, a guy that had zero HC experience, and somehow he still has a job.

The opposite? Sounds like you agree it hasn’t been good enough. If a recruit is a bust, then that’s on the coach for misidentification or lack of player development.

Ha,

That is funny. It is even more funny/puzzling (IT WAS GREAT) that Davis beat Coach K two games prior to the Okie game.
