Only way I see Archie lasting another 14 months is if Covid keeps fans out of assembly hall next year.

Agree. Program momentum is dismal. The ugliest offense. Can Archie run anything else besides PnR?

Maybe Archie is done with the heat and he wants to move on. Could we be so lucky?

Pull a Matta and retire citing health reasons to save face. Even though Matta had actual health reasons. Then we try to get Matta it’s perfect

Instead of wishing for IU to tank, we need to start hoping the Celtics continue to be a mediocre NBA team.

Brad has reached the finals yet and he’s been in the league since I was in high school.

You’ve said something like this several times now and it really doesn’t make any sense. The Celtics have made the ECF three out of the past four seasons. They have two budding superstars under the age of 25. They’re not going to fire Brad Stevens. And if they did, plenty of other NBA teams would jump on him immediately after. He’s not coming back to college, and if he did it wouldn’t be to coach at IU.

I want him gone, but I really don't think it is happening this year is if donors step up to pay his buy out, the bailout for the coach who replaces him and the new coaches 1st year salary

What?

I think he may be referring to this:

But I could be wrong, so caveat lector

I don't the price of the buyout is the problem if it's spread out over time and offset by a new job.

At this point, I cannot imagine Archie is happy -- with IU's performance, with his performance, with the perception of him now as opposed to after his final year at Dayton.

I highly doubt it, but I wonder if there's any chance he just goes to Dolson after the season and says, "Four years ago, I thought this was a great fit. But clearly, it's not. This isn't working for me, and it isn't working for the university. Let's just part ways amicably, come up with a little settlement -- and I'll be on my way, in search of a better fit for me. And the school can find a better fit as well."

I think that's pretty much what happened with Mike Davis.

It's not. We need to create more "buyout awareness" on this board. The three-headed monster of "buyout+new coach's salary+new coach's buyout" needs to be reeled in. It's nothing but fear-mongering and a way to get our fans to just accept our fate.

I loved how the team rallied around that and got hot at the end of that season because they wanted to send Davis out on a high note. I don't remember what Davis's contract looked like at the time. My guess is Archie Miller, like many people these days, is probably more interested in millions of dollars he doesn't need and won't want to walk away from that.

That’s what I figure, but his response still doesn’t make any sense. I rarely talk about Brad Stevens. But more importantly, it’s been said a number of times on here that he didn’t enjoy recruiting in college. He’s paid quite well in his current job, he doesn’t have to recruit, and he has a good, young team. And if Boston fired him for whatever reason, another team would love to scoop him up.
