Iowa hiring McCollum might force Dolson to hire Will Wade, especially if someone like Brownell makes a deep run again.

News today is suggesting Will Wade and NC State are having a second meeting and close to closing the deal.

This Brownell drop may be just one last bit of smoke/misdirection to get this past selection Sunday.  To get it over the proverbial hump if you will…..If IU makes the tournament,, it may take a bit more but my guess is SD has his guy but just won’t share it until the Woodson era is over.

You mean the Woodson error is over...

Haha. It would be a really good hire for them. He fits there so well.

He's going to have them hard to beat. Obviously an excellent coach.

You suddenly have the power to get rid of either Greg Doyle or The Hoosier Hysterics which are you picking ?

Hysterics.  They cause much more embarrassment to IU.  Greg mostly just embarrasses himself.

And likely even worse, their NIL collective is highly suspect.  They do not provide any transparency (not even basic updates they promise on their website), nor do they have any sort of basic oversight or financial controls in place.  This is irresponsible and also perfectly sets them up to do whatever they want with the pile of money they have collected from IU fans -- take a guess what people tend to do when they have access to opaque piles of cash.  They can easily dispel these concerns with an extremely basic audit any IU grad CPA would do for free, but they don't...

He doesn't need 5 stars to win and likely would do better without. The expectations aren't as high as other jobs like IU. It would be a really good hire for them. And good for the league.

McCollum, Wade, etc are going to take other jobs because they’ve been notified they’re no longer candidates?

McCollum to Iowa looks very likely. I don't think they'd be willing to spend ~$4.5M on buying out DeVries then pay him more than $3M salary and still have money for basketball NIL. McCollum will be a cheap, great hire for them. He talked a lot about it being important for him that he goes somewhere that he can place first in the conference and NIL being a big part of that.

Sad day when even the hottest mid-major coach decides he can win bigger at Iowa than Indiana, lol.

Our NIL does not make us an elite job. Nobody wants the headache of being here. IUBB is the new IUFB.

Good thing it's easy enough to get excited for Huss or Calhoun. I'd bet on either of those two at the moment.

If we hire Brad Brownell, it'll be very hard to be optimistic about IU basketball. I'm not one of the "I'm done with IU if we blah blah". I'll still root for my guys but damn, this program is not serious if that comes to life.

Who is it this time that's in Scott Dolson's ear saying "you gotta check out Brad Brownell, man. Trust me" ? What has Brad Brownell done to even be in this conversation? What a deflating hire that would be.

We know that people are using the IU opening as a springboard to other jobs and/or raises at their current gig.

My thoughts are...if these other jobs (NC State, Iowa, etc) can make the moves seemingly so quickly*, why isn't Indiana?

Signs, to me, point to the realistic opinion that we have our guy, whomever it may be

*this is from an outsiders opinion.  I realize that I know very little in terms of timeframe/timetables

You and I seem to align pretty closely on these mid major types. Just curious though on your thoughts regarding Schertz? That seems to be one I'm higher on than you.
