As I said Dolson interviews are different then the search firms interviews. The search firm is doing Mark Turgeon stuff

Dolson is meeting with the real people one-on-one and some are complaining that their client could get a call returned.

Of course that makes me believe one thing

Why would Dolson have a list of interviews and hire a search firm to have separate interviews of people we are not considering?  Seem like a waste of time and money but I have no clue on how these things work.

Which Brownell is the real Brownell? The guy who went to the tournament 3 times in his first 13 seasons and teetered on and off the hot seat, or the guy from the past two seasons? How much has he benefited from the ACC becoming a weak conference? Sure Clemson isn’t a basketball Mecca, but it’s not Siberia, and it doesn’t have Northwestern’s Ivy League admission standards. His results have been very mediocre and outside of the past two seasons hasn’t shown an ability to elevate a program. I’d much rather take a flier on Collins or a risk on McCollum than go with Brownell.

If you want inconsistency, Collins is the guy. It doesn't matter how down the ACC is, he made the elite 8 and his computer rankings still have him top 20 both seasons regardless of how down the ACC is. Brownell has equaled Rick Barnes at Clemson.

This is why I keep saying this is the best search I have ever been around. Today I have had two people tell me it's Collins

Another buddy sent me McDermott done deal, I also got a McCollum done deal

I got a not Stevens but someone just as big

Last night was told the hire has been made since March 1st

Spoke to an agent who said that Drew and May couldn't get an interview because Dolson already had his guy at the end of Feb.

I love this but ready for it to be over.

That’s awesome.  With that much noise, there would be no way to separate fact from fiction.  We are truly going to be surprised with this announcement.

Search firm does a lot more than just interviews. Background checks, setting up PR, vetting assistants different things like that

#1. You need fewer friends.
#2.  If a deal has been done since ~March 1, it has to be a current non-coach. Contracts can be discussed, but an actual contract couldn’t be “done” while a coach is still under contract with another school.
#3.  How was Shaka interviewed last week if May and Drew couldn’t get interviews earlier because of a done deal?

#4. May’s extension has always led me to believe something was already baked in for the IU job.

This guy won the SEC in a very heated booster environment where fans are constantly unhappy. Brian Kelly can’t even do that there with all the resources and support given to him. He continued to win despite sanctions, investigations, and suspensions. Then he took the fall for several other big name coaches doing the same thing (we all know Self was named in that investigation, as was Pitino, as was Duke) because they had the most evidence. The fallout was ugly, he had to wait, and then he rebuilt himself again at McNeese, and had them in the tournament AGAIN in back to back years. The videos of his players and his manager are incredibly likable, and they’ve taken social media by storm. Those types of things speak for themselves in recruiting.

Let’s not forget that Coach Cig was very unlikable before he started winning. You can try to say that he was, but man did he put a target on his back in everyone else’s eyes. He still does, but do you hate it? No, because he’s your coach, you’re winning, and that’s outside noise

He "won" what?  His last 3 seasons there with his own team were 21-10, 19-10, 22-11.   He's made it past the round of 32 once in his career.  Won what??  Where are the standards??  I'm seeing people in huge support of some very mediocre coaches who haven't ever done a damned thing.   Why do we want another guy who, save a single season, had records similar to Woodson in what was then an either equal or inferior league?   Cignett's not an a$$hole.   Watch the documentary.  And you don't think fans here would be unhappy with similar results?????   Come on.

Honestly...with 3/17 being a day after brackets are announce...if we're going to hire an underwhelming coach...it would be buried in all the bracket talk...so that would be ideal...however...I'm hopeful for a big name coach that would make a splash when announced...so that would likely be after 3/17....

Where did 3/17 come from? That seems like a made up date

I can't see this Crown tournament actually taking place. Players, coaches and fans want to wait another 3 weeks to watch, play or coach a team that they probably couldn't wait to be done with? I'm sure the ratings will be stellar. Starting at center for Indiana is 6' 5" Jordan Rayford. And at PG is some guy named Craig that IU found at the upstairs pub last night.

That actually sounds like a hilarious thing to watch. If the tournament occurs, it won't be nearly that much fun ha.

Just seems like they would work hand in hand more.  Maybe they are and I am not following along closely enough.  Not the first time I haven't paid attention.

This hire better be brad cause I fear almost anyone else we hire will be bad. I am officially doom and gloom until I see a reason not to be. We need a splash hire for instant juice. A reason to pack the hall for hoosier hysteria. Not some mid major hot shot imo

I’d like for it to be Brad also but if not, I just hope we get a good coach. I would find excitement to see a guy like McCollum step up to the big leagues and succeed and create his own culture and make IU his masterpiece.

Maybe, but he might be too dog gone good. . . . like creating chaos while holding everything close to the vest.
