If the guy we are hiring is still coaching, we will need to wait regardless.

We’ll just have to see who it is I suppose.

His half court offense is not great. It’s what kills him in the tourney every year. It’s what killed him against Davis where IU held them to 15 points below their average. His next final four was against Wrights Villanova squad where Houston scored a whole 44 points!

Can you win a title with him? Sure…he puts together good teams that are athletic and play pressure defense and wear on you for 40 min. But he needs to get lucky in the draw. Teams with good guards who can handle their pressure and/or make it a game off half court offensive execution send him packing every year. And he’s basically been a 1 seed the last four years so you would expect them to make the S16.

He’s overrated by the people who think if only IU kept him we’d have another banner by now. Possible, but not close to a sure thing. Probably not even likely given the fact that in about 35 years of coaching at P5 (Houston wasn’t always tho) schools he’s made two Final Fours. At some point you have enough data to establish a trend.

You want to kill the IU administration for passing on a scumbag that cost us a banner then lament not going after Pitino. Or complain that we didn’t go after Beilein. All much better coaches than Sampson.

Sampson himself says that he's a better coach now than when he was at IU due to things he learned while in the NBA.

Wonder if the new Chancellor is going to have a say. Probably not, but they are supposed to be the person in charge of the Bloomington campus.

Wouldn’t surprise me.

IF Self were to come to Indiana, yes, it probably would be just a short term deal before he retires. 4-6 years, I'd say so we'd have to go through this again in the not too distant future. However, he would leave the program in a much better position than it is now as well as killing the narrative that IU isn't an attractive school to big name coaches. I would expect the next hire to be a good one, too, or there would also be more room to take a chance on an up-and-coming coach.

That said, I see absolutely no way Bill Self leaves Kansas unless he's retiring.

This might be Woodys last game. I don’t see them accepting an invitation to that new Crown tourney
Woodson isn't losing this game. The king is going to cook.

You also clamored about Mick Cronin suing UCLA to get out of his buyout. So there's that
