I don't think our most successful path forward is to continue playing two bigs on the court who are not consistent threats from 3.

Now there is something to be said about that.  I am cool with having 4 out and 1 in.  You still need the bigs.

I completely understand where you're coming from but don't think Reneau is the answer at the 5.

Ideally, we land a couple of 6'10"+ athletic, rim running/defending bigs to pair with athletic, 3 level scoring guards/wings for a complete team. I would love for IU to be the Big 1.o that breaks the mold of needing multiple bigs having to defend massive, plodding centers in the Big 1.o to win.

Absolutely baseless speculation here but I am hoping and praying this kid decides he needs a bigger stage to show off his NBA potential (currently projected as a mid second rounder I think). He seems like the kind of athletic floor stretching big that the B1G has overall been missing.

Shot a decent 3PT% his freshman year but was bad this season.

As baseless speculation goes, this is more interesting than most. Would think if Nelson tests the draft process he’ll work out so well that if some team thinks that weird come to balance move with his jumper is correctable he’ll get a 1st rd promise. But if he does enter the portal,  he’ll be the #1 guy and he’ll have his pick.

He's from Devils Lake so I'm thinking maybe Dook

I was referring to TJD, the All-American who is 6'9 on our team now. 98% of these 6'9"-6'10" forwards who only shoot from 10 feet and in (even less in TJD case) are not as skilled and never will be as TJD. We need wing/guard scoring if we want to compete for championships in the future. Malik has more than shown he can hold his own in the post and Duncomb "should" be back in the fold as well next season.

All talk is Duncomb is gone (no info on that, but it’s been strongly insinuated here). Malik is going to be a stud next season imo. Whether JG returns seems like it’s in question (no idea, would think he’ll return as he should be a key piece next season but the talk’s there). Agree we need a wing and probably a point, turning on JHS’s decision, but probably do need a big

I think the writing is on the wall for JG.  If he comes back he is not playing much more than he is now.  I would be really surprised if he returns.

For Geronimo, I'm not so sure he's gone. It wouldn't surprise me either way. Duncomb is the player I'll be surprised if he doesn't transfer.

Yeah, he’ll go to Providence and be a 12/8 guy because Cooley just does that. And it will be infuriating because every Big East broadcast will refer to him as “the Indiana transfer.”

It might depend on the portal. A small ball front court of MR and JG could be pretty solid ~IF~ MR progresses as expected and JG can stay healthy and find the form he had during last years tourney and the few B1G games he started this year.

Got to fix the officiating first!

Whatever it takes to get an IU reference! LOL

Yeah I know how you feel about him, and I disagree. We played our best ball of the season and he excelled during our run after Woodson’s sit down with him while Race was out. Question will be what he and Woodson see as his role next season when Race is gone. He’s been out in a boot and recovering, we don’t know jack right now.

I am confident that I love old school Centers & post dominated offense as much as anyone on this board.....but Holy YMCA league Batman, this guy is bolted to the floor. I can only imagine the B1G teams licking their chops to physically dominate him. Based on that "highlight reel" I'm  not sure he can even dunk. Yeesh.

Josh Cohen's games against power 5 teams this year:

Butler:  37 minutes, 8/14 from the field, 7 rebounds, 18 points

Ohio State:  34 minutes, 8/16 from the field, 10 rebounds, 18 points

Miami (F):  38 minutes, 10/16 from the field, 9 rebounds, 30 points.

Three game totals:  109 minutes, 26/46 from the field, 26 rebounds, 66 points.

So doubt that B1G teams would be licking their chops.

Reneau is probably the answer for primary offensive output at the 5 next year but defensively we really need at least one of the 6'10"+ athletic, rim protector/rebounder types to pair with him.
