Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Texas - 12/1/20 @ 1:30 on ESPN

I will keep saying this. We need a new strength and conditioning coach. He gets a lot of praise from Archie and Archie plays him up in recruiting and talking heads like to show body transformations but the facts are:

nobody can shoot free throws. Nobody can make 3s. Nobody can finish around the rim. Everyone looks gassed.

these are not 1 game facts, they are 3+ years under Archie. This includes players that could shoot in high school, AAU, on other college teams and they get here and their shot is destroyed.

The way you lift, the way you train should be to help muscle memory, just like practicing your shot. Why do most players become worse shooters, finishers when they get here?

Galloway at least pushes the tempo on the break, more so than our guards. Our guards are way too slow on the break so if Galloway has the ball and wants to get out and run, I have no problem with that.

It’s an incredibly small sample size but he doesn’t look like he has the ball handling skills in traffic to perform well at this. If he’s all on his own, sure. But he caused a very costly turnover today being loose with the ball in transition.

I think Purdue got the better of the two.

TBH...,. Painter never should have redshirted Newman.  Guarantee he was better than Stefanovich last year.  IMHO, he’s also a guy who will turn pro before he ever plays four years, so redshirting himself would have cost them an NCAA berth last year (if there had been one).

Galloway also sees the angles on his drives that others, even upperclassmen, have yet to learn.  I don't understand how Galloway is able to get to the rim more so than our guards.

That ball just finds him.  There are reasons for that, but I just think it’s his competitive spirit.  He just hasn’t taken plays off at either end.  Going to love that kid for four years.

Which in itself is baffling.  If our more talented and experienced played like that we wouldn't be seeing these type of games.  If half of us on here somehow had the opportunity to put that jersey on and play for IU we'd be busting our @$$ like Galloway.  It just seems like most of the players are just happy to be college basketball players but don't want the responsibility that comes with it.

This isn’t to get everyone even more fired up, but this adds onto the embarrassment that was today:

Yep it was absolute embarrassment on ESPN.  No two ways around it.  They better show up tomorrow.  After the way they played yesterday if there are any other excuses, it better end with our effort was awful after we couldn’t get anything going early on.  Defensively they were really good for most of the first half and then just gave up.  That’s on the coaching staff.  That’s on the players.  Show up tomorrow like you didn’t hang out at the socially distant strip club until 3 am pretty please.

I wish that our players got as pissed off about embarrassing performances as some of our posters do. They go through the motions and look like they don’t even care. Will they look any different tomorrow? I won’t hold my breath..

Not a shock.  Somebody posted last year that a high percentage of IU games with Archie Miller have been blowout losses.  Does anybody have that stat?

It's ridiculous.  I can't believe people can accept this again and again and again.  He's the worst coach IU has ever had.
