Class of '66 Old Fart Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 It's never too early. Ya think there's already a connection established via our new assistant coach? Jacob Polacheck -- UConn and Indiana are starting to show interest in 2023 prospect Donald Villard as well as 2024 prospects Caleb Middleton and John Kallon. Not much out there on either player. NERR: Caleb Middleton is a 6'8" forward who attends New Hampton HS in New Hampton, NH. Not much out there but this snippet from New England Recruiting Report -- Caleb Middleton, Dover - Although Middleton is currently out with a broken arm, he was in attendance at Saturday’s Elite 75 and expects to be an immediate impact player in the NHIAA this upcoming season. At six-foot-seven, Middleton can play inside and out, and has a frame to keep growing. NERR: Caleb Middleton, who will be joining New Hampton’s class of 2024 next year, was the first player to catch our eye. He has a terrific early combination of size, skill, and fluidity. He runs and moves well for someone his age who is already every bit of 6-foot-9. The versatility in his skill set is very intriguing as well. He can step out and make threes, put the ball on the floor, and score inside with baby hooks and good footwork. In short, he’s bound to be one of the top early prospects in next year’s freshman class. John Kallon is a 6'3" PG from City on the Hill (MA) Charter School in Boston. https://www.zagsblog.com/2020/08/19/class-of-2023-john-kallon-hoping-to-take-two-visits/ NERR: In the class of 2023, John Kallon was particularly impressive. Again, he’s far from a finished product, but he’s a budding big guard with good size, pace, and smooth playmaking potential. He’s going to have to keep developing his shooting mechanics and learning how to play the point guard position, but his natural ability is clear and he showed some flashes of high-level plays throughout the practice. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 More way too early '24 news but because the young many plays on the Indiana Elite 2024 AAU team he might be a name we hear more of. Travis Perry of Lyon County HS in Eddyville, KY (just east of Paducah) was named to the Max Preps All American 3rd team team averaging 27.1pg. https://www.ncsasports.org/mens-basketball-recruiting/kentucky/eddyville/lyon-county-high-school/travis-perry6 https://www.paducahsun.com/sports/lyon-countys-perry-poised-for-prolific-possibilities/article_a3c0870d-31fd-5c8d-ad2d-cdaadba0e2af.html HoosierAloha 1 Quote
JMett94 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) I'd love to see Brauntae Johnson of Fort Wayne North Side on the radar. But he might end up being a better Football player than basketball player. Put him in the football thread too! Edited May 3, 2021 by JMett94 think too much Quote
Jam Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Do you think this staff will have any greater traction with some players offered by the previous staff like Chris Livingston or AJ Casey? Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 Rob Cassidy of Rivals on Brauntae Johnson of FW Northside: A class of 2024 shooting guard, Johnson gets to the rack as effortlessly as any prospect in his class. And while he impressed onlookers with a 22-point performance that also saw him grab a number of tough rebounds, most of the college interest that surrounds the 6-foot-3 prospect is as a football player. According to Johnson, who plays for the Indy Heat program, football staffs at Notre Dame, Indiana and Purdue have all reached out to inquire. Still, he certainly has a future on the hardwood if he chooses to pursue it. If he develops a consistent jumper to go along with his ball-handling, rebounding and quick first step, he could garner a number of high-major looks down the road. Where he might land: Johnson, who is just a freshman, says he has not decided if he will pursue basketball or football as his primary sport in college. JMett94, HoosierAloha and fwgreenway 3 Quote

I will definitely be attending some North Side basketball and football games to follow his progress. I believe their basketball team was mostly underclassman this year, so as long as they stick together we should be hearing more about him for the next couple years. The year after Keion Brooks early departure to La Lumiere NS hired Gary Andrews as their head coach. He won 3 State women's high school championships at FW Luers and the a college championship at FW St. Francis. Hopefully he can do the same thing for the North Side boys. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 2, 2021 Author Posted May 2, 2021 Trevor Andershock from the Hensley Run-N-Slam -- Brauntae Johnson had a great freshman year for Fort Wayne North Side. On Saturday, he solidified his spot as one of the top freshmen in the state with his performance against the Wisconsin Playmakers. Tae is an athlete six-foot-two guard, and Johnson is every bit of six-two. He has wiggle off the bounce and can finish above the rim. Johnson was inconsistent from three during the high school season, but he hit a triple in the double-overtime win, and his free-throw motion looked good. He finished with 15 points in the win. Johnson is one to remember in 2024. JMett94 and HoosierAloha 1 1 Quote
