I’m with you on all of this except Brunk. We need a big that Brunk can be the backup for. Or play Trayce and Race

I like Brunk and he works in certain games. But other games, he’s just not an asset. Like against Maryland, he clearly wasn’t going to be able to defend Jalen Smith. He’s a good backup center and should be a 10-15 minute a game guy. And hopefully Race can improve his 3pt shooting because we need a stretch 4 to force Archie to change his offense.

Al peaked as a Sophomore. It was clear what kind of player he was. A backup. He’s just not good enough to be in the role Archie tried forcing. He should be waiting to shoot 3’s, not a ball handler, playmaker or featured scorer. Because he’s not good at it.

And now you've just owned yourself.  Al was not better as a sophomore than he was as as junior.

Well Lander will be starting and probably playing 30 minutes. So he’s taking Greens minutes plus 7. We now have Lander, Phinisee, Al, Leal and Franklin to eat up the 80 minutes played at the 1-2 spot and that’s before we land a transfer. So someone is going to be losing minutes or getting passed up. And Durham isn’t good enough to be put on a level of impassable. We could end up seeing a duo of Lander and Phinisee.

Again, your opinion disguised as fact.

He wasn’t any different. He was still an average player who should be a backup. That’s who he is. He’s not great at anything. He’s really not good at anything. He’s just average. And that hasn’t changed at all.

Cool.  What was Franklin good at?  And Leal and Galloway just moved ahead on the depth chart based on what?

Not any different yet improved statistically in every stat.

Simple question:  who was our best guard last season?

Well it was probably actually Green. As bad as that sounds.

Devonte Green put us in the best position to win on a game by game position? Disagree. He only did that when he was on which was 1/10 games if that. Devonte Green helps beat FSU. Al Durham helped win against 90% of the other teams Devonte couldn’t. That means more than a higher upside when you aren’t good enough to reach it on a regular basis.

They were actually pretty close statistically this season. But Durham ghosted in too many games where we needed him. 2 points @Purdue, 2 points vs Arky, 4 points vs Maryland, 5 points vs Purdue. Biggest difference between the two was Durhams inability to be trusted with the ball. Green has the ball a lot obviously. As in a usage% of 29.5% but only a 13.1% TO%. Durham on the other hand had a usage rate of 19.2% and a TO% of 19.2%. Green had a PER of 14.2 and Durham had a PER of 13.2. Where Al had Green was in Win Shares where Durhams was 1.2 and Greens was 0.7.

By the way, TJD and Smith were our best players this season.

Soooo.... Green had better individual games but Al was better over the whole of the season. Green was better with the ball. That’s pretty much what you are telling me with your stats which we have all said. You cherry picked games Al frustrated you. You can do the same with every player. The steadiness of Al at both ends helped get us to 20 wins. The outlying performances by Green helped get us some of our best wins.

They both helped and hurt. Neither were good. But I’d say the difference is the ability to not turn it over. That’s the biggest difference between the two.
