It's because the same players are making the same mistakes and they're not being held accountable. It's because we're 3 years in with no shooters and none coming in. It's because last year the team thought effort was optional, and tonight we saw them quit. It's because we see problems that aren't being addressed. All of those will prevent winning games. He'd be on thin ice at pUKe or Duke or UNC right now, but we're told we have to wait 5 years to even know what he is. All 3 recruits next season are better shooters than anyone we have now. Everything else in your post is fair, but that comment just isn't true. Quote

Leal, for example, shot 39% from the 3 point line a year ago and 51% as a sophomore. You think he forgot how to shoot? I don't know when people around here started to expect the worst and believe every negative thing they could find, but it's poison. Fire everybody. We need....anybody else! I think Geronimo is going to be solid, but he’s not a shooter either. Leal is the only one who has consistently knocked down 3s. Quote
southernindianahoosier2 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I haven’t seen anyone call for a mid-season change but if the administration isn’t looking for the next basketball coach they aren’t doing their jobs. That has to be a discussion that is happening behind the scenes. If this coach doesn’t make the tourney of 68 in year 3 after missing it in year 1 and 2 they have to be lining up buyout options and new coach options. 68 teams, that is a huge number of teams and we are nearing 3 years, really 5 in a row of not being a top 68 team. That’s unfathomable Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app How was there not a clause in his contract that said your buyout is reduced if you miss the tournament for three straight years. Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 If we aren’t willing to cheat we need somebody who can develop players. Like Bennett and Bo Ryan. Personally I could care less if we started sending fed ex packages. We don’t need either. We need someone that can develop players and put butts back in seats, at games and at home. Right now there’s no excitement. We have a big time recruit, but a crappy offense that’s beyond boring. A Bennett or Ryan wouldn’t fix that. Because it’s still in IU’s blood to play a great smart offense and put points on the board. Scoring 37, even with a win, wouldn’t be tolerated here. We need someone that can win recruitments, win over fans with charisma and that has an offense that actually works. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Is that going to work with those 2? No clue, but we’ll have to wait another year or two probably with how young they are to see. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Everything else in your post is fair, but that comment just isn't true. I haven't seen a large sample for Leal, but what I saw was mid 30s this year. Couldn't find numbers for Geronimo but what I found basically summed him up as an athlete with potential still developing in terms of skills. Galloway I haven't seen but will look. None of what I found says they'll step in and address our shooting need, but could be solid pieces in the future. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Just from the 2 or 3 games I've watched Geronimo is not a 3-point shooter. Not that he can't make them, just that in St. Paul's games he's not called on to shoot them. Of the 3, IMO Leal will be the only true 3-point threat unless Galloway makes strides with his outside shooting. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

I watched Leal this last weekend, I don't know what his 3 point percentage is but not sure how seriously you can take it with their schedule. They won both Friday and Saturday by 40. So these are not serious game 3's in some of these games. Plus against some of the competition he can get to the rim anytime he wants. I like him a lot but I'm saying don't hold his percentage to this is what he is a type of numbers. Quote

Did more inside than out because people were running at him and doubling him on the perimeter. He's a good shooter as is Geronimo. Galloway is more of a driver than a shooter. His game reminds me of Pete Maravich....meaning only that he's "different." Creative would be a good word. He's also a very willing defender. Quote
