I think IU ceiling is the 3 seed.  I don’t think 3 more wins would be enough to pass the teams on the 2 line already.   They would at least need to beat Purdue again in the Finals to gain another  Q1a win.  They would need the other teams to lose early in their conference tourneys.   IU would need to play Maryland, Illinois or Northwestern and then Purdue to have any shot at being considered for the 2.    That would add 2 Q1b and 1Q1a to the resume to even think about being able to compare and even then I still think they would come up short for a 2 seed

Have any #1 seeds lost their conference tourneys yet? Or anyone going to steal a bid from a bubble team?

Michigan doesn't seem like they have a resume of a tournament team, but if they cracked through would make it to the Sweet 16. It feels like a team like that comes along every once in a while.

I agree. They have a top 5 player in our conference along with two first round picks. They aren't deep and point guard is a freshman but they can get hot.

I think Tennessee and UConn/Xavier are the teams ahead of IU for the 3 seed line..at least what I'm seeing. I can see Tennessee losing early in the SECT due to the loss of Ziegler. If UConn or Xavier get to the Big East finals it'll be hard to pass them.

Yeah 6 of them have lost in their conference tourney.    Conference USA is the one to watch out for.   If FAU loses in the conference USA tourney they are gong to get an at large bid and that will take a spot from the bubble.    Charleston plays tonight and they have 29 D1 wins but i don’t think they have a resume to get an at large.   It would be interesting to see what happens.  A10 is down this year and is only a 1 bid league

One of them would have to beat Marquette to get to the Big East finals.

I can see UConn but I still have Xavier behind IU.   Xavier lost at home to Nova (team in the 70s) and won at seton Hall and providence since the top 16 reveal.   IU won at Purdue, beat Illinois and Michigan and lost to Iowa and Sparty which  are 2 tournament teams.   It’s close but I think since committee already had IU in front of them I don’t see Xavier doing enough to pass them.   I do think UConn passed them and maybe the Zags as well

They did the same thing last year.    Barely got in at 17-14 and ended up being the only other B1G team besides Purdue to make the sweet 16.

Interesting wrinkle I just read about in regards to Rutgers that the committee has stated something to the effect that they'll give consideration to their loss at Ohio St and how it should not have been a loss. Not that they're awarding them a win, but considering that even the Big Ten admitted the last second shot should not have counted. That would be an extra Q1 road win on their resume. If it comes down to Rutgers being equal to another team or two on paper, I wonder if that tips the scales in their favor?

I don’t think it’s that big of deal.   I saw that on Twitter and brushed it off.    They are still 2-6 without Mag and that game would have been from when he played.     Also OSU finished 13th in the league so even though it shows up as a Q1 win people in that room will point out OSU is 13-18

He better.  I haven’t looked at his bracket but I would be shocked if he had them at more.   I know he is a St Joes guy but that league has been a disappointment

Yeah, great points. It's a pretty unimpressive Q1 win.

But I’d be perfectly fine with Virginia as our 4/5.   I realize they are very well coached but they aren’t too impressive to me.

I think this is a good year for that matchup. They aren’t nearly as efficient as a normal good UVA team and we’re no stranger to a rock fight.

I had to look.  He has VCU as the aq.  No other Lunardi schools.
