Popular Post Stuhoo Posted February 22, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 22, 2018 Probably as good a time as any to start a thread full of Big Ten tournament information and speculation. Archie was asked today at a press conference whether he preferred being the sixth or seventh seed in the Big Ten tournament. As you might imagine, he offered a typical Archie no bull answer: “Sixth. Sixth is better than seventh. Sixth.” And then followed it with a textbook Bob Knight “what a stupid question” look. WayneFleekHoosier, Str8Hoosiers, thebigweave and 13 others 16 Quote
Str8Hoosiers Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 So we are either 6th, 7th, or 8th (is 8th possible) Anybody have the scenarios that could play out for each? I'm sure i could look it up but assume someday already knows. Quote

We also have the tiebreaker over Penn State, and therefore either an IU win at home against OSU OR a Penn State loss at Nebraska gives us 6th place. ALASKA HOOSIER, mamasa and Str8Hoosiers 3 Quote
Str8Hoosiers Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Thanks Stu, so even in a 3 way tie, we wouldn't be 8th? Would we still be 6th? Quote

Right; head to head in conference is the initial tiebreaker, and we would be 2-0 against the two teams we were tied with in that scenario. Would be the sixth seed if that happened. Quote

Yogi'sBicep21x Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 I decided to quit being lazy. I like our draw (if play ended today). 1718_Mens_Bracket.pdf Quote
cbp4iu Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I think I would be alright with a 7 seed seed 6:30 start time. I think I would love revenge on OSU in the second round. ALASKA HOOSIER and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
Popular Post Magnanimous Posted February 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2018 Well this is going to be likely the last Big Ten Tournament held in NYC for a while, unless they go to Brooklyn. Delany said in an interview yesterday that he regrets the condensed conference schedule that was necessary to make the NYC tournament work this year, and that they will not be doing this again to try to get the tournament in Madison Square Garden, followed by stating that the only way they will play in MSG for it again would be if they can host it during the regular championship week. Since the Big East has a longstanding deal with MSG for their conference tournament, it will be unlikely the B1G is in MSG for their conference tournament again anytime soon. Link Having the B1G tourney in MSG always seemed to be just throwing a bone to the Eastern teams -- Maryland and Rutgers (I still don't understand why they're in our conference) -- but the fact remains that we are a Midwest-based league. The tourney should be in Indy or Chicago. I could see even Detroit as a possibility. Maybe Cleveland or Milwaukee -- if they were looking for something different. But IMO, the tournament should always be in the Midwest. ThompsonHoosier, LIHoosier, Lebowski and 13 others 15 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 If the PSU at Neb score holds we'll be the 6th seed in the BTT playing on Thursday at 9pm against the winner of the 14/11 game. pu got the 3 seed so we would play them Friday if we win Thursday. Baltimore Hoosier Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I like the matchup vs Ohio State much better than Purdue. IU can’t do much to stop a team that can rotate 7-footers like it’s going out of style. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
