It seems this could be an unbelievable class with a couple 5 stars (TJD, Watford, Hurt, Brooks, Carton) or we miss on everyone except TJD and grab some lower guys like Newman, Franklin, Harris. Just such a mystery right now in June.

How do you feel about Carton? Us getting 1 of his first 2 official visits has to be a good sign

Bill Self says coaching USA Basketball is a recruiting advantage for Kansas — but may be a bigger disadvantage

http://www.zagsblog.com/2018/06/12/bill-self-says-coaching-usa-basketball-is-a-recruiting-advantage-for-kansas-but-maybe-a-bigger-disadvantage/

But IMO, the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages and hopefully in a few years Archie will be getting the nod to coach these kinds of teams.

Evan Daniels - 247Sports

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The opening session of the USA Basketball u17 trials tipped off Friday evening at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.  The 30 players in attendance put together an inspiring, competitive session to start camp. The USA Basketball u17 coach Don Showalter and his crew of coaches put the participants through an array of drills and for the last hour or so of camp they broke up into four teams and scrimmaged.

The following are 2 of the 5 that stood out the most to Daniels.

Isaiah Stewart, C, 2019
One of the most physically imposing post players in the 2019 class, Stewart appeared motivated on opening day of camp. The bruising big man competed on both ends of the floor, was active on the glass and played as physical as any player at camp. Stewart is a gifted athlete too, so when you couple his physicality and strength with his pure leaping ability, he can be tough to score against. Offensively, Stewart impressed as well. During drills early in camp, Stewart showed good shot mechanics and potential as a shooter from mid-range out to 22-feet.

Recruiting: Georgetown, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Villanova, Michigan State, Duke, Indiana, Texas, Louisville, Washington

Brandon Boston, SG, 2019
On a roster full of talented scorers, one could argue that Boston was the best of the bunch heading into the trials. On opening day, Boston certainly proved his worth. Boston, a 6-foot-6, long, lean wing, made shots off the catch from three, hit multiple mid-range pull-ups and was active on the glass. Boston has an impressive looking jump shot. He does a good job of setting his feet, gets a clean release and with his size it’s difficult for opposing defenders to get to it. Boston also did a good job of not forcing the issue, making the right play and scoring within the offense.

Recruiting: Georgia, Villanova, Clemson, Florida State, Texas, Mississippi State and a host of others

One of the take it for what it's worth articles where someone ranks players.  This one is from the Indy Star's Kyle Neddenriep

Samari Curtis    4-star (247) 3-star (Rivals) guard from Xenia, OH.  6'4" 180 lbs. formerly committed to Xavier but decommited after the coaching change.

...Curtis said his AAU coach handles a lot of the details, he put the Buckeyes on a list that also includes Dayton, Florida, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, Kansas State and Missouri. Of those schools, only Xavier and Cincinnati have offered, along with Toledo, Kent State and Akron.  Next week, Curtis said he has a visit planned to Indiana. The Hoosiers have not offered.

Interesting. He played well and put up good stats in a good league on a bad team in Ohio. Would much rather have Newman / Franklin though

Does he get an offer or do we get a commit. I think Newman’s our first for 19.

I'll agree to sign for the result of those predictions. Right. Now.

We are right where we need to be. A class of TJD, KB, Carton etc...would be go down as one of the all time great classes.

I don't think it would happen, but could you imagine Romeo staying a 2nd year? We would have to be hands on favorites to win the National Championship in '19-'20
