Corruption in College Basketball

I would love to see this work in our favor if the "list" truly scares recruits.
Vanderbilt = Romeo to IU
Alabama = Watford to IU
MSU = TJD to IU
Duke = Hurt to IU
Hopefully they will all take a harder look at the majesty of playing for IU.

You live in a fantasy world. Duke is untouchable and so is Michigan State. So you can forget about TJD. Now Alabama and Vandy are the type of 2nd tier schools the ncaa likes to nail.

Hopes and dreams, Fantasy world, I'll take what I can get.

How about this.

- Every program involved in this gets a 3 year post season ban. Each programs ban starts in the same year, for example 2019.

- Vacated wins / championships

-After each program has served the 3 year post season ban, paying players and involvement with agents becomes legal, but monitored.

Not the hardest punishment obviously and will still have flaws.. but it does keep the NCAA from going completely under while also sending a message.

I don't know lol

Some schools will probably get hit hard but not the top ones . Your 2nd tier type schools like Auburn and USC will be the type that get hit. . But the day any punishment goes against Duke is the day a pig flies by my work window. The NCAA and guys like Vitale think coach K is the second coming of Jesus Christ and they won’t touch him.  Isn’t it a miracle though that year after year he can get two or three five stars into one of the hardest schools in the nation and not one ever has had an academic issue in 30 years ? He truly is a miracle worker.

Problem with this is asking an incompetent organization like the NCAA to monitor it....they’ve already proven they can’t handle it.

Text messages. Freaking' text messages ... After seeing this whole poopstorm of FBI investigations and payments and strippers and cheating, I'm still flabbergasted that we got busted for text messages. And that set the program back years. ... Granted, considering the type of kids he was recruiting, I wouldn't have been surprised if Sampson had taken us further down the slippery slope of seediness, but still -- text messages.

Good grief!

Lol. Clearly after the North Carolina joke of an investigation I have zero faith in the ncaa. None.

Didn't Sampson get at least 5 years show cause for text messages? After even a self reporting?

The bottom line is don't self report. The ncaa is a don't ask don't tell organization. They don't want to know this stuff.

I believe he was already on probation from Oklahoma when he got hit with the text message violations.  I could be wrong.

Peevy: “Coach Calipari is here today to talk about tomorrow’s game vs. Missouri. If you don’t have any questions about that, we can let him go to practice. Once again, we don’t have any additional information other than what we provided to you earlier in the statement. We’ll make Coach Calipari available for you now.”

Kyle Tucker: “Is there anything you can say about the story, your reaction?”

Calipari: “I know nothing more than what you guys know and that’s why there is no reason for me to speak on it. You guys know what I know.”

Reporter: “Is there any concern about eligibility?”

Calipari: “Not –“

Peevy: “As I said, we have no additional information other than what we shared. If we have anything more, we’ll make sure we communicate that to you.”

Alan Cutler: “Cal, without saying what you can’t say — [Cal looks at Peevy] Hang on, just give me a second.”

Calipari: “Go ahead, go ahead. Run me down. Go ahead.”  [If you didn’t catch that, it was a reference to Cutler chasing down Billy Gillispie]

Cutler: “Without saying what you can’t say, just emotionally speaking, you have to be disappointed with this crap coming out.”

Calipari: “I mean, yeah. For all of basketball, this stuff. Yeah. But again, the statement I made is from me, where we stand on this and how I feel about it.”

Reporter: “Have you had a chance to talk to Kevin about this?”

Calipari: “No.”

Peevy: “Do you have any questions about the game tomorrow, Missouri?”

Reporter: Will Kevin play tomorrow?

Calipari: “At this point, I believe so. If there’s something I don’t know” [Looks at Peevy]

Peevy: “Like I said, once again, there’s nothing additional to what you already know.”

Lyndsey Gough: “Is this a distraction for your team?”

Calipari: “I don’t even know. I haven’t met with them yet so I don’t know.”

Reporter: “When you see this kind of attention –“

Calipari: “Any Missouri questions?”

Exactly.  Don't tell the NCAA what rules you're breaking and the NCAA won't ask you to stop breaking them.

The NCAA has egg all over their faces on this one....I expect Izzo to have some more stuff brought to him and he will either resign, or is fired. Emmert is only going to protect Emmert. He has been proven incompetent( as if we didn't already know) and I think if the NCAA doesn't take action, heads will roll at that office too. Just an opinion but even though it may take awhile, I think so much info will come out that these presidents and ADs will have no choice. Or its just wishful thinking. Stay tuned....
