2018 General Recruiting Thread

Recommended Posts

I guess you could argue that Isaiah had the benefit of Witman, Landon, Ray and Kitchel. Isaiah joined a strong program with a HOF coach whereas Cody joined a much different team, could have gone anywhere, and along with Vic he led a team that could have won it all. Give them a HOF coach and maybe the results are similar.
Now I do agree that Isaiah was something special. He was my favorite player as a kid and one of the key reasons I became a fan. I definitely put him well ahead of Cody but I think when a guy who could go anywhere but comes to a team at the bottom of the standings and helps lead them to where he got us sounds like a transcendent player.

That is fair. We have a difference of opinion on that, but that's what makes the site fun man. Good discussion!

Plus the bulk of the discussion went back to Romeo being a must get. Some believe he is, others don't. Thought that is what a general recruiting thread is for. Specific recruit info is in their own thread.

(Thought from the Garland thread)

IF (!) we could land both Garland and Romeo with Jones improvement we could have the backcourt to compete at a national level.

Davis and Morgan as upperclassmen starters with experience. Moore, Smith, and Hunter as versatile wings. Thompson backing up the bigs. Green, Phinisee, and Anderson getting some run too.

That's a legit Final Four team if our bigs stay healthy.

Yep we have the team to sell them on that luckily. Hopefully it works

It's a little ironic since 2010 was probably our most productive class on a per player basis (Oladipo and Sheehey). Every other class had some duds... And I'm NOT trying to make this an argument on the value of rankings .

Not sure this is 100% accurate but updated a bit. A Garland/Romeo combo would be a perfect way to finish this class off. I'm not opposed to Forrester either.

A depth chart of..

Garland (fr 8), Green (jr 241), Phinisee (fr 101)
Romeo (fr 5), Jones (jr 74), Durham (so 230)
Smith (so 77), Hunter (fr 62), Anderson (fr 85)
Morgan (jr 110), Moore (so 154)
Davis (jr 41), Thompson (rs fr 101)

That roster has a lot of talent and experience. The starting backcourt would be young and inexperienced but we could balance that with bringing in Green and Jones off the bench. Durham could play a role as a lockdown perimeter defender.

We would be a bit inexperienced on the wing with Smith but Morgan could help with that. I believe Smith would be a great fit with this lineup too.

We have experience and talent down low but not real deep. Morgan or Thompson will have to be able to defend bigs when Davis is out.

It's a long shot but I'd be selling this to Romeo and Garland. Hopefully they're talking and thinking something similar!

Won't Morgan be a SR in 18?

Langford is coming to HH per his dad. Also worth noting he may just take it as a unofficial and STILL use an official on IU. That is the cherry on top part. Either way I am so glad he is coming. Great atmosphere specially with Archie here now and his name will be chanted a lot I would suspect. Now let's get Garland on campus that night too.
