This is how I feel too. I really want to see IU have a big, deep, athletic front line. Sure, "positionless" is all the rage and 'Nova won with four guards, blah, blah, blah. I still think Bigger is better and, as we saw last night, size does matter. Bring in the big boys Archie!

One reason Moores development is important fits the position less model but also has height. Needs to bulk up a bit

I think Moore would really need to develop as well because TJD is more of a 4, so with our true 5 gone, if Moore and TJD can both be effective, our front court would be sweeeeeeet.

I think you can have both and both are important. If we land TJD and Moore, Forrester, and Thompson develop we should have a solid front line in 2019.

Is TJD more of a 4 or a 5?

Right now a 4 but if he grows another couple inches like they think he will he might be a 5 whether he likes it or not.

Even if he doesn't grow he could still play a small ball 5. What is his latest recorded height?

Davis (senior)
Moore ( junior) Thompson (RS junior)
Forester ( sophomore)
Jackson-Davis (freshman)
Maybe Watford, Brooks, or Hurt in the mix??

That would be excellent height, athletic ability, and skill with great, wait for it, roster balance!!

You are right. His last height update had him at 6'9 which means he would be a 5 if on this years team.

Trayce Jackson-Davis, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Center Grove High School (IN), told ZAGSBLOG that Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State have been recruiting him the hardest.
He broke down each of those three programs:

Indiana: “They have been in contact with me since Coach [Archie] Miller and his staff have been at Indiana. They have a great facility and a great fanbase. They told me how their bigs are free to do more things and not be under the basket.”

Iowa: “It was a great visit. I got to meet with the coaches and some of the players. Their recruiting class coming in was really good. They told me to be more versatile.

”Michigan State: “The new weight room is really sick. They redid their whole stadium including the locker room and it was nice too.”

The consensus four-star recruit holds more than a dozen power-five offers and has taken unofficial visits to Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan State since the summer.  As for official visits, the Center Grove, Indiana native said, “I’ll probably start next year. My recruitment is still wide open.”  Purdue, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Clemson remain in the mix as well.“  I think I bring a low post threat with the ability to stretch the defense on the perimeter, but my handles and shot still need work,” Jackson-Davis said.

According to 247Sports, Jackson-Davis is the No. 47 prospect in the class of 2019 and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Indiana.
