From a recruiting standpoint—I hope that victory over Minny helps us with Hurt. Hope Race keeps on him and we can beat Duke out for his commit.

Right now they show him at 33% with Kansas and Minny.

John Marshall, playing the first of back-to-back key Big Nine Conference games, held off Northfield 71-67 in boys basketball on Friday night.  The host Rockets, ranked No. 10 in the state in Class AAAA, led 29-16 late in the half and by 10 at the break against state-ranked Northfield. The Raiders, ranked No. 10 in Class AAA, made it close in the second half, but JM held on.  Matthew Hurt scored 18 of his game-high 32 points in the second half for JM. Hurt also had 12 rebounds.

JM (11-1, 7-1 in the Big Nine) will play at Austin at 7:30 p.m. today. Austin (11-0, 8-0 Big Nine) is ranked No. 2 in the state in Class AAA.

Projecting ahead, Morgan would be gone. We could still have DeRon and Moore and Forrester.

TJD would play the 4 or 5.

Hurt (BIG IF) would play 4 or 5.

Watford is more of a 3/4.

Brooks is a 3/4.

We will be lucky to get 2 of the above. Very, very lucky.

I love Hurt the most but Watford and TJD would be absolutely amazing.

Austin, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class AAA, made a big statement on Saturday night as they vanquished John Marshall, ranked No. 10 in Class AAAA, with an 80-64 victory before a sellout crowd of 1,300 fans at Austin High School.  The teams meet again on March 2.

Austin started the game on an 11-2 run.  JM battled back behind 6-foot-9 junior forward Matthew Hurt to get back in the game. Hurt scored 24 of his game-high 31 points in the first half.  He also had 14 reb. for the game.
