Wasn't trying to be negative, was more of the lines of funny. Miller has been on my coaching board for the last 3 months.

Yeah I believe this is it. My grandparents wanted Alford too. It's hard to blame them. Their IU glory years were Knight and Alford, etc. and they don't keep up like I do, it's just what they know.

I was around for Alford's glory years and wanted nothing to do with him. I truly think we got one of the best young coaches out there and we will be pretty happy even to see what he is able to do with whatever players decide to stay from Crean's tenure.

I'm not saying he is the next Bob Knight, but the situations are pretty similar. Knight wasn't immediately accepted by a lot of the fan base, based on what I've read. Many were turned off by his slow-it-down offensive style. Winning cures all, and I think in a few years, the fan base will look back and wonder how we managed to bring this guy in.

We missed on Stevens because he was young and unproven, same with Matta and some others. I contend that Miller offers a floor about where we are right now, and a much higher ceiling. Once he starts building relationships with HS players and coaches, we will be on our way.

I'm a guy who watched all the glory years with Knight and never missed a game even if it was just radio.
His last few years his coaching slipped.I was ready for him to go when it happened and with his behavior as late have lost a lot of respect for him.
Loved Alford as a player, but as a coach not so much. Most know the Pierce/Alford story.
I'm encouraged by what I have read that Miller holds his players accountable.Crean didnt until his hand was forced.He never did in game.
I'm excited by this hire and believe we'll se a totally different culture on and off the floor.It feels good to be a Hoosier fan again.

I guess I should state that I too was around during those years as well.  They were good, exciting years but this is a new era.  I'm more excited by the Miller hire every day and ready to see what he can build.

I hope Archie likes to work the refs. Crean not doing it really hurt us at times imo. I wouldn't mind a few techs from time to time.

Not my grandpa, my friend's. All my family I talked to thought an Alford hire was a bad idea.

I agree with your statement though.
