Welcome Coach Miller

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure who it was on JMV today but apparently Archie has already told some people that our days of playing sub 300 KenPom teams out of conference are over. Has anyone else heard this?

Rabjohns said the impression he got from talking to him was that those days would be over. He was the one on JMV

No oversigning?  Music to my ears.

He'll be putting in a lot of hours trying to undo all the crap Crean taught these players.

There are going to be a lot of things Miller does that any normal coach would do, and after watching Crean for 9 years, we're probably going to think it's new and intriguing.

I wonder if we're still going to have players graduating in 3 years. This was something Crean really pushed, and although it was supposed to show they were great students, it always kind of rubbed me the wrong way, like he was rushing them through so he could have more scholarships to throw around.

I hope he writes "defense" on the board and ask the team what it means.  Half of them won't have the slightest clue or will fall asleep instantly.

And for the love of all that is good, stop Bryant's friggin' crying.

Had the pleasure of going to the press conference today. I am getting more and more excited about the hire. He really does seem like a no B.S kind of guy, opposite of Crean.(Seth Greenberg actually said this morning Indiana hired Tom Crean again.) Really looking forward to a better non-conference slate (UK and Zona??) and locking the in-state recruits. I certainly think he can do it. It will be interesting to see who stays for next year. Archie said in one interview he was very impressed with the talent on this team. With what Archie did at Dayton I really think this team could have lived up to its potential with him.

Man, what a day!

1. Got to listen to the PC

2. Heard about CAM's plans to recruit Indiana using "Inside/Out"

3. Am optimistic Indiana will actually be known for defense again!

....and the capper to the evening ....

Watched two Purdue students absolutely embarrass themselves on ESPN's Bracket Genius show.  The two Qs they missed:        1) Who was the voice of Darth Vader, and the kicker, 2) What important document starts out with the words "We the People"?

Greenburg is an idiot. Always has been, sucks at coaching (congrats on competing with Crean on trying to schedule the worst non-con schedule possible then crying when you don't make the tourney), and now he sucks at commentating on the game.

Now that I think about it, his teams were ALWAYS on the bubble. I just cannot believe how off the national media is about the hire. Heard Gotlieb ramble on Dan Patrick about how he was told it was Alford.

From Osterman in the Star:  Those “basketball people” were signing off. Former IU guard and current trustee Quinn Buckner called Miller “OKP” — “our kinda people.” Glass felt the same.   IMO that quote from Buckner speaks volumes.

I just now was able to watch the presser.  I didn't need any ice either, but I bought every single block he had.  I am really encouraged and excited for the future of IU basketball.

Yeah, year in and year out. And every year we always heard about how soft a non-con schedule Va Tech had with Greenburg.

But yeah, don't get the national media's take on IU basketball. They seemed to dislike the firing of Crean, and now they aren't too high on Miller. Whatever, its cool, we'll sit back and laugh when Archie works out

Well so much for keeping his daughter out of the spotlight as I talked about earlier. I hope for Archie's sake he is just proud of her and is trying to get her exposure. If he did not and he never meant for this picture to go so viral I feel bad for him. It goes back to being a coaches kid and affecting your family in every way as I discussed earlier.

Also I am a bit confused to her age. This article states Leah was born in 04 making her 12 or 13:

http://heavy.com/news/2014/03/who-is-dayton-coach-wife-morgan-miller/

This article today says she is 11:

http://www.idsnews.com/article/2017/03/archie-miller-earned-his-way-to-iu

I have never been great at math but obviously those 2 numbers can't add up and one of the articles is wrong but who knows which one. Also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a hotel room in the Union?

Now to the real important stuff I loved the shots Archie through across the bow (albeit unintentionally) at Crean by talking about having a tough non-conference schedule, playing defense and not over signing by offering anyone and everyone a scholarship. Obviously these were the 3 things fans hated about Crean so it is really nice to here Archie feels the opposite on each one!

I cannot wait for Archie to get started and am excited for the future of IU basketball!
