It could also give us a starting five of: Green Romeo Justin Juwan Porter McBob, Hunter, Phinisee, Al D, Race ... A lot of depth. A lot of size. A lot of athleticism. A little short on outside shooting. That roster could absolutely contend with a serious March run. But, I am merely Tuesday-daydreaming with this scenario. In the spirit of offseason Tuesday daydreaming: I love Smith, and I’m sure lineups like this will get some serious run. I’m in wait-and-see mode about whether he and Morgan can play the forward spots alongside a traditional five for long stretches, though. They’ve both flashed the occasional range, but I worry a bit about floor spacing on offense and quickness on defense with this lineup. I hope they make these concerns laughable. As I said in the Romeo thread, I think defense, shooting, and turnover avoidance are paramount for PGs playing alongside a high-usage 2 like Romeo (and Juwan, too); for front court players, add rebounding. McBob starting at the 3 maximizes those attributes and lets Smith’s deployment respond to the game situation: go small/big? Is Morgan/the 5 in foul trouble? Etc. BGleas and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app My fit concern is that Arch clearly wants everyone, bigs included, to hedge ballscreens hard, and I worry De’Ron, even when healthy, may not have the quickness to hedge and recover without creating seams in the defense. Recall how Michigan gashed Purdue, specifically Haas, with high pick-and-roll. Despite being good interior defenders, the weakness is so crucial it weakens team defense. Forrester may not be ready to contribute much as a freshman, but in many ways he seems closer to the ideal five in the long run for the scheme, assuming you have scoring elsewhere. mdn82, thebigweave and Jam 3 Quote

This lineup could be fine but I look for the starting lineup and rotation game 1 next year baring any injures to be as follows. 1. Green 2. Romeo 3. Hunter or McRoberts 4. Morgan 5. Porter? or Thompson Bench: G1. Phinisee G2. Durham W1. Mcroberts or Hunter W2. Smith B1: Thompson or Moore or Davis depending on Porter and Davis's injury. Not getting many minutes early Davis(injury), Anderson, and Forrester although Forrester could change depending on Porter or another transfer or late addition. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 With respect to Porter, he might have his eye on wanting to see if Romeo does indeed commit to IU and therefore not make his decision until after April 30. Quote

barrettballer Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I work with a girl that used to be on the girls basketball team and is friends with Curtis Jones and DeRon Davis. Apparently DeRon really wanted to go pro after this season, so this injury was very disappointing for him. His favorite player is Shaq so he wants to play like him. I find that a good thing for us. As for Curtis the breaking point was the Duke game when he barely played. He wanted to find a offensive style more suited for his skill set, which he did in Oklahoma State.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners WayneFleekHoosier and Stromboli 2 Quote

Porter wouldn't take up a '19 scholarship anyway; he's got one year left as a grad transfer. Clifton Moore = Potential rim protector. I am skeptical, but boy oh boy would his viable development be a good thing. Chris007, Class of '66 Old Fart, GloryDays and 1 other 4 Quote

yogisballin Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I don't expect Clifton to be a 15 pts per game guy, ever. I want him to become a George Leach. Obviously with a better motor. We need a shot blocker, defensive presence.Boy did leach, j newton and JJ block a lot of shots that season? Probably my 2nd favorite front line at IU behind Henderson, Cheaney and Nover for me.
