Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers

Recommended Posts

Somebody told me he could play by the time Big ten season came around. Not sure if true.

He can play first semester for Dayton next year. As far as the rule on if a red shirt who's coach leaves could that player transfer without missing another year would be a good question to ask. Technically a red shirt uses up a scholly and the player practices with the team ( in his case he could practice with them starting the second semester as a partial qualifier)

Yeah I think somebody meant for some reason he only had to sit out 1 semester. I don't know tbh. Could really help if we lose some people. Might be more valuable to have sit out if we can keep players on roster

We never had any enforcers down low, no big men who protected the paint. Not many real good perimeter defenders except for Vic. Soft players would explain the overall poor defense during his time here.

Rojo and Abell feel like such missed opportunities on the perimeter as defenders. Of course if Rojo comes back we have another year to see him develop, but yeah always thought he could be a really good perimeter defender

Rojo was just overall disappointing this season. Defense, leadership, consistency, aggressiveness, you name it he struggled with it.

Interested to see who stays and goes. Also Archie needs to establish some recruiting momentum sooner rather than later.

It's not unusual at all for a new coach to start having success on the recruiting trail much sooner than on the court.  CAM has been involved in recruiting for major programs in the past (OSU, AZ), so he's no neophyte.  I fully expect him to start having recruiting victories fairly soon.

I think the most important recruiting momentum he can establish immediately, is keeping as much of our roster intact as possible. We have the horses to win under the right coach.

I know he said he was staying already but DD seems like he's being overlooked a little. I can't wait to see Archie get his hands on him.

How's Archie with big guys? I've thought for a while that DD could be a monster for us with the right coaching.

I think for DD to really shine he has to improve his athleticism, there were times last year where he really struggled to finish at the rim. Slow, unathletic post players are dying in modern basketball.
