I've been out of the loop for a few hours and it seems like I've missed a lot! I saw the Hickory Hoosier post but have not seen anything by magnanimous. Did his post get deleted or am I missing something?

Mag said Crean and Glass met this morning and Glass told him he was done after the BTT. The new part of this is that according to Mags guy they actually met today and the decision has been made and passed on to coach

This is the most specific bit of info and the most important that has come from anyone thus far. The fact that nobody else has corroborated makes me cautiously optimistic vs over the top excited.

There are three important dominoes. The decision/notification, it being shared publicly and the replacement. This is supposedly part one of 3 and that is significant that anyone with info should know this happened. If one knows who we are talking to then they would know this "meeting" happened.

Most of these guys sources are probably not as connected as one would might think. It is possible mag knows a guy who knows this meeting happened and the others dont. Anything is possible

Hard to keep up with all the posts and if this scenario has been posted by others I apologize.  I can't fathom for a moment that FG and CTC have not had several conversations about CTC's future.  FG has shown himself to be pretty loyal to his coaches to a point - and some could argue maybe too loyal.  What if a deal for our next coach is a done deal awaiting signature.  But FG is giving CTC the chance to find his next home and therefore resign with a new gig in hand vs. fired?  Therefore the utter silence on the matter from FG.

This is what I'm prone to believing as well.

Why make the decision to part ways now, after a win against Northwestern and an upcoming game against Purdue, to part ways, unless you already know (or have had extremely positive feedback from potential candidates) who the next coach is?

For all intents and purposes, we are out of the tournament race.  But it's plausible we could beat Purdue, OSU, go on a run in the BTT, and sneak in late.

No inside info obviously, but I'm incredibly encouraged by the odd timing of this.  I think Glass knows he has an obvious upgrade more likely than not to be the next coach.

Imo if we somehow sneak into the tournament with a 10 seed we should decline because our coach doesn't deserve it and Indiana isn't a 10 seed type of school.

As funny as that scenario is (to me...) I don't think this is the case. I think people are undoubtedly hearing things, it's who they're hearing those things from that we all question. We're on an anonymous platform, so skepticism has to be expected if someone comes in here with some bombshells.

Yup. That is why I never blame someone for spreading info. It is up to us to decide if we would like to believe it or not. I won't trust it till it is official or more sources come out but I don't mind hearing things. It gives us a sense of hope. I do believe Crean finds his new job before they "mutually" part ways.

On the timing - after last night's win and with week left of regular season - I'm just speculating, but I'm wondering if the meeting was today to give Crean notice and give him time to line something else up.  The timing would make sense in terms of the positive relationship Glass and Crean have for each other.  Glass is giving Crean a fair notice, and letting him pursue another job so after the season....let's say the week of March 12....some new school will announce Crean as their coach (vs. IU announcing they are not bringing Crean back).

Totally thinking out loud here on the possibility.

I doubt Donovan doesn't already know what Westbrook is going to do.
