Mike White is gonna be a popular name probably after this year or next. Florida isn't looked at like the Donovan area so it isn't in the top tier area or even middle tier. He seems like a good coach but I would like to see him more and his name be a little more popular to come here. Two things that can quickly change.

The thing about White Id worry about is Duke. He could be lined up for that gig. His father is the AD of Duke.....

Overall, White has shown he can win and he emphasizes defense.

Unless they can realistically lead us to a championship sometime in the future they shouldn't be on the list. I can't see it with Marshall, only made it past the first weekend twice. Said it before, he is just a double not a triple or even a home run. I want a championship, he doesn't get us a championship.

So he's gotten to a Final 4 and a Sweet 16 at Wichita State.  He got Winthrop to the NCAA tournament consistently.

How far would you expect a team in the Missouri Valley or Big South Conference to regularly get in the NCAA tournament?  Eventually, the talent gap is going to catch up with you, superior coaching can only get you so far.

It seems odd you would penalize a coach for "only" getting to a team full of mid-major talent to a Final 4 one time.

If the team from Missouri Valley featured 3 players that would eventually go on and have a chance to play in the NBA (early, baker, vanvleet) I would expect them to go pretty far. At the time of the final 4 run it might of looked like a surprise but Marshall had top level talent. But again most coaches who make a final 4 have talent

Ok yeah, the team had talent.  But what were they ranked coming out of high school?  I really have no clue.  I'd be very surprised if more than 1 of those guys was in the top 100.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "have a chance to play in the NBA."  Did they get drafted?  I would argue that pretty much anyone who plays NCAA basketball "has a chance to play in the NBA," if you count D-league opportunities and camp invites as a "chance".

They were also a missed 3-pt shot at the buzzer away from beating the Julius Randle Kentucky in the Sweet 16 the year WSU went undefeated.

Make a roster which 2 of them did. None of them were ranked in the top 100 coming out but I'm not big on ratings. They developed into all American types. They were a missed 3 away from beating an 8 seed in the second round? They were favored in the game because they were the better team but got upset

Interesting.  I do think he does deserve some credit for coaching them up into better talent though, I'm sure you know what I mean.

And remember, that UK team went on to beat Louisville in the Sweet 16, Michigan in the Elite 8, Wisconsin in the Final 4, and advanced to the championship game against UConn.  So they took care of the two best teams in the B1G after Louisville, it's no wonder a MVC team got "upset" by a team full of 5 stars at every position who got hot in the tournament.  (I was wrong earlier that WSU got beat by UK in the Sweet 16, it was the Round of 32.)

You forgot to mention those 5 stars were freshman that also lost to a 14-20 South Carolina team in the sec. so yes I did considered it a upset over the veteran undefeated shockers

Not for me.  I'm not interested in anyone who hasn't had any D-1 college coaching/recruiting experience.  And my feeling also applies to IU guys such as Wittman, Thomas, Smart, Woodsen, etc.  Personal preference.

I was just throwing a name out, but I definitely understand where you're coming from

Dick Vitale is ALL coaches best friend.

He especially likes to support the ones that cheat.

I can't stand him.

I love Dickie V but put no stock in who he thinks is a great coach because to him, they all are
