Old Friend Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I can agree to a degree. I think every coach is like this. I truly wonder how many times he sat back and said they did everything I wanted and it wasn't good enough. This is exactly it. He doesn't adjust. He doesn't game plan differently for different teams or styles. He doesn't recruit kids with high basketball IQ. He doesn't seem to mind turnovers or bad shots. And his teams win when they make shots, lose when they don't. A trained monkey could coach that way. What I want is a coach who understands how to take advantage of what other teams don't do well and take away what they DO do well. I want to see a brilliant game plan executed so Indiana wins games against good teams. I want to see a priority placed on transition defense and pride in playing efficient smart basketball. "Everything Crean wants" is frequently not good enough against good teams because he seemingly doesn't know how to plan or change what his team does. They've played the same way for 8 years. Whether they have the right roster or not. Quote

If a team doesn't let us control the pace we are in huge trouble. Quote
Trish Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 One thing i can't stand about Crean is not using the players correctly. It doesn't take a Harvard Graduate to see that Troy shouldn't be running PG or dribbling into traffic. Sure he may have scored here and there off driving to the basket, but more than likely he'll turn it over. We need to get the ball to Thomas more. Tonight, we did a decent job of doing so. We still looked lost on offense at times and it was very hard to watch. Yogi needs more pick-n-rolls. Use his speed to get to the rim to either score or dish to a corner 3 for hartman/Nicky/RoJo. All this dribbling and driving is getting very old, very very very old. It may work here and there, but most of the time its hard to watch and we don't get a good look. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 @dandakich Coach Knight used to read letters/telegrams to us from people all over the state explaining that "These are the people we represent" 1/2 So assuming Coach Knight really felt that way I'm guessing he will be there.. coonhounds Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I have to admit the fact he hasn't said no leaves some hope. I think that every other time he has been invited to something he had a excuse and let it known well in advance. Also my cousin said he is going to be speaking in fort Wayne so I checked into it and it looks like he is planning on doing some events? I couldn't find alot about it but this would be a great way to ensure attention to him in the state for those events not that I think he needs it but anyway lol. I hope he shows up so bad I am probably just talking crazy lol ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
USMCHoosier Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 It is now abundantly clear that CTC is going nowhere during the season. However, barring a E8 or better finish, I am finished with him. He continues to put the same product on the floor and continues to recruit like he is at Marquette. Why do we offer so many 3* kids so early in the process? It is almost as if he can't show interest without a scholarship offer. 323SGrant 1 Quote

Elite 8 is still very possible and so is missing the tourney all together 8bucks 1 Quote

Elite 8 is still very possible and so is missing the tourney all together If Glass wasn't going to push him out the door for his pre-conference performance, he certainly isn't going to do so with the lame ass B1G schedule IU, or CTC, lucked out on this year. I cannot fathom a way that this team loses enough conference games to force Glass to reconsider his position on Crean. I think, at this point, that any change will come after tournament end. That is abundantly clear, at least to me. If I am wrong and Crean is pushed out, I will be very happy to be wrong. coonhounds 1 Quote
