It is the main reason I expect us to be so great. The atmosphere itself it second to none. Yeah it wouldn't have been the best scenario to watch them, but I was looking forward to having at least a game or two that was really good in the NIT. I also believed Crean would be gone so I could truly root him on to finish the way he should have left....fighting. If that was gonna happen tho as many reasons as I think it helps our cause it could be a way to escape the drama for keeping him. It won't stop it from happening though, but I could see Glass thinking that way. This whole situation is just weird. I have no idea what to think anymore. Illinois did it the right way. Waited to make sure Groce didnt end up making a good run. Then knew the tourney wasnt happening so he fired him and now the NIT their fans can truly focus on winning it while being excited about who their next coach is gonna be. People wouldn't forget and would add his name next to Crean's on the firing board. I'm not saying this isn't going to happen, but if it does I expect it to bite Glass in the butt big time. Ive always said he is an incompetent putz. But then im told look at all he has done for womens bbal, etc. Not sure why i care what he did for womens bbal when he handles mens bbal like a 15 year old. Don Fischer is employed by the university and will remain employed at the discretion of the university. If you're looking to hear Crean and Glass put on blast, I recommend looking outside of their pool of coworkers. Too many things like the NIT decision, lack of any statement about the situation one way or another, and there's been too much chatter about possible replacements. Do I believe the anonymous sources are bringing definite, solid info? Nope, but I believe there's a kernel of truth in those rumors. Hearing that Terry Hutchinson even said something about interest in a particular NBA coach, is just one instance of seeing proverbial "smoke". I think the rumor that Glass is letting Crean make the decision about leaving may be true - that is until the season is over. He is probably taking the approach that he will let CTC coach as long as our season continues, or leave anytime he finds a new gig. After all, it's the NIT and according to Glass's own "expectations" it's a "who-gives-crap tournament". The weird decision to forego a home game indicates he likely is shielding CTC and the team from what could be an ugly situation and he probably doesn't regard the loser's tournament as being of any great importance. I may be totally wrong and I certainly don't have any solid basis for a decision either way, but I think we'll get an answer after the balls are put away for the season.
