recker222000 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Yeah he's not still recovering from surgery that was two years ago. Another excuse by Crean. And yet, the media buys into his crap. The media can't honestly believe it's because of injuries year after yearI can't imagine they real buy into it. I think they just want access to the program.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Hoosier Guy 1 Quote

But I want a coaching that can instil in the kids heads that winning for INDIANA is step number ONE if they r gonna play on the team. Don't come to IU if u aren't interested in playing to win for the team. Winners always look better. No matter what level is next, the next level coach wants kids that have won and know what it takes. Recruit kids that buy into winning for INDIANA as #1 priority. I agree you don't hear about other programs talk about kids going to the NBA like Crean does unless they have a team full of 1 and done guys the way Crean does. I mean Crean said that McSwain was a pro. Crean worries about developing more than coaching and that is why you don't see the team chemistry that is needed to win in the Big 10 because they have as many guys worried about the draft as Kentucky and the players aren't nearly as talented in my opinion. Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 http://kentsterling.com/2017/02/16/indiana-basketball-is-tom-crean-the-right-coach-for-indiana-in-2017-2018-iubb/More reasons to fire him. As most of us already thought this proves it. Sterling says he has talked to several coaches in Indiana and he has just flat out burned the bridge. If he isnt even welcome in some schools than how can we expect Indiana University to get the Indiana kids that we need. I just think there are too many pros on the side of letting Crean go compared to keeping him. yogisballin Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I think part of his problem is his feel for the game. He trusts analytics too much and that is coming from someone that is a data analysts. Numbers in either direction always tell a part of the story. He trusts those numbers and tendencies too much. I will agree with that. I have been at numerous games over the years of all sports where a coach would go through notes. Not the whole game, but periodically.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appAgree with you on the analytics and also wondered for years now that he just doesn't have any feel to the gameSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Pap - If it happens, which '17 commits do you think we can retain if any? Same question for our current freshmen. Thanks. IMO for the most part these kids would be smart to stay at IU. If the new coach wants to upgrade Im all for it. Quote

Brass Cannon Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Here's the problem Crean trusts analytics too much but he's not very good at understanding them. He's so obsessed with deflections but it's an over simplified stat that needs to A) broken down further into more details and B) used in conjunction with other metrics. A kid can get 3 deflections on a play and the other team still score 3 points. You have to dive deeper. Class of '66 Old Fart, Bowhunter, mdn82 and 4 others 7 Quote

Agree, and to go further if the emphasis is on deflections (great stat in proper context) the player will put themselves in poor defensive positioning.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Alford Bailey, Feathery, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
