Difference is at IU that isn't okay. He will find somewhere it is and probably succeed expectations there. I just hope for his sake he doesn't use it to land another high profile job. He struggles under pressure too much and hates fans talking too much obviously. Missouri or maybe NC State would be great for him. I think he needs to go down south though. He doesn't have good relationships on west coast or really here.

I see where you are going with this.  Crean will land another top job because others see the expectations at IU just too unrealistic ... then Crean will beat the new IU coach late in the tournament.

It was freshman he was referring to. Again I am paraphrasing,  but yeah, in a post game interview he threw that bit of wisdom out there. I wish I could find the comment. I remember looking over at my Dad and asking if that was somehow a joke. Unfortunately for us fans  he meant it.

 

It was in the vein of having them finish their stint/shift on a positive note. That theory can work in practice to keep the 'correct' method to do something in their head, but in a game situation I feel that that methodology certainly messes the team up as well as the development of the player.

Someone mentioned Tubby Smith being fired from UK. After 1 NCAA ship, 5 reg SEC's, 5 tourney SEC's. his biggest problem during his tenure was Donovan's teams. And for some reason or another he hasn't ever been good at recruiting. As far as X's and O's go, guy can coach imo!

For those that's saying 2 B1G in 4 seasons crap. Please, stop! Outside of that, guy has been nothing but inconsistent at best! Back to my point, Tubby was fired with having way more accomplishments. You're right on it my man. Tubby Smith won a national championship and all those regular season SEC championships and SEC tournament championships. And yet, he was fired because of underachievements in the NCAA tournament. He made it to just the one Final Four in his first season. Subsequently, he won his lone national championship that season

Rick Bozich is quite possibly the sportswriter that does the best job of encompassing the reality and the essence of IU basketball's current situation.

I consider this article to be the required reading, all-encompassing, not-a-Crean-hater, objective analysis of where we're at.

He's due for one of his Crean Wins as I call them. I'm not quite sure how good Minny is, i assume not very talented. We're playing some really bad basketball right now but I dont expect us to get blown out tonight. I think we win.. although I would really love an L tonight. 

 

The more L's the better. If we lose the rest of our games, he's fired right?

Let me ask you this: What will change next year? Our biggest need is a point guard, and Tommy can lay blame wherever he wants, but he didn't bring one in last year, and there isn't one coming next year. His positionless system will be no better next year. Most likely, it will be worse.

Take TB off the team we watched get handled by Northwestern and that's basically our team next year. Maybe worse depending on transfers. There's no reason to bring him back when you look at the team we'll have, surely Fred Glass sees that.

New coach would actually teach the guys we have and bench Newkirk a competent coach could have Green good to go possibly. And a new coach could bring a PG with him. 

And that has nothing to do with the financial implications.

I believe I can say with absolute certainty that the financial implications of keeping or firing Tom Crean are negligible, insignificant, and largely irrelevant at this point in the decision as to whether Tom Crean remains IU's coach
