TOM CREAN FIRED

We have so much talent imagine what a good coach could do with it.

Just remember Crean has 18 years experience and he's getting schooled by a guy with 1 year. Experience and capability are so different.

I'm going to end every post in this topic with a coach I'd rather have

Brad Stevens

Indiana plays above the rim on the offensive end but fails to employ the same athleticism on the other side of the floor. This should be one of those active defensive units deflecting passes, forcing turnovers and creating offense off those TOs. But they're out of position on most possessions and surrender open looks.

Just to play devil's advocate (even on myself), here were Crean's comments from his radio show about Wisconsin:

"They are the most experienced team in the country and they play like it. They pass the ball quickly and they pass the ball effectively. They have the best interior spacing, they play outside in, inside out."

Pretty much exactly what Wisconsin's been doing so far in the first half.. He also made comments about defenders playing with their hands up to avoid uncontested looks and not over-helping.

It sounds like he hit the nail on the head with his comments.. how much of the blame goes to players not executing as opposed to coaching? Is this just a low IQ team? It's pretty obvious based on his comments that Crean knew what to expect and I'm guessing, prepared his guys to play against it.. what's the freakin deal with this team?!

He can't prepare them. It's not like it's the first time we have seen this from IU. First time this year I guess

Then he's a crap GM. In college, the head coach can't palm it off on management or vice versa like you can (for the most part) in the pros.

You can't blame the players when it's the same crap every year.

Don't disagree with any of you guys about seeing some of the same issues every year.. It's crazy to see the pre-game comments, then see the team come out and do exactly the opposite of what he was saying. It would mean Crean is a complete failure and basically a total moron with zero idea of how to coach. Either that or the players don't want to play for him?

When you're entire career shows you have teams that defend poorly, it stops being about the players and starts being about the most common denominator. Nothing pisses me off more than someone who constantly preaches but doesn't walk the walk. Expecting a Crean led team to defend well and not turn the ball over is purely delusional.
