Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Can we break Nick's hand again? Just his finger please, not his whole hand! Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 How about this as a wildcard thought. JBJ's rehab is lengthy and now that he's had major surgery on both knees, he simply isn't the player he was nor ever will be again (yes, I know that's looking at a worst case scenario). Is it possible he would transfer recognizing he no longer had a guaranteed starting position with the recruits we have coming in next fall? Quote
Yogi'sBicep Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I personally think its a very longshot that Thon chooses IU. same :( Excluding this... I'm wildly optimistic and have a wild mind guys, sorry about the constant fairytale posts. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Wow, so much in the last few pages. Our defense is better but does anyone actually think it's the best in the B1G? I think a lot has to do with the teams we've played and who the other top teams have played. 12-6 is possible but it's at the higher end of possible outcomes, imo. A lot of that isn't how good this team is or isn't but who we play. We have 5 games against the top of the B1G (Iowa, MSU, Maryland, and pu) with 3 of those at home. Who has it easier in the B1G? JBJ will be starting if/when he gets back to 100%. He chose IU to be a star not a reserve off the bench. This team with better defenders and leadership around him can cover some of his weaknesses on defense. Edit: There should be zero FF talk until a few hours before we possibly play in an E8 game. I'm sure Gelon wants to be a star also. And we have a season and a half of evidence to suggest that his D is so bad that the other 4 guys can't make up for it. Was it awake forest that beat us by simply passing to whoever he was guarding. Quote
schoosier Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 and I'll tell you why; Yogi will dominate every PG in this league if he wants. Especially if he feels threatened. Secondly, TB is too much for everyone excluding Purdue- who we have at home and our guards are light years ahead of theirs. Our defense is #1 in B1G. Troy is a mismatch for almost any CBB player. NZ3 is about to not miss for a few weeks. Too much to handle. We'll drop 2 on the road on bad nights and toss up at Iowa. We are the real deal.Good teams will go right after Bryant from the tip off, get him in foul trouble, then have their way with us underneath. They will also give Yogi every chance to shoot his way into me first basketball. Iowa will absolutely kill us. I will say this would be a great year to get it done as the B1G is as weak as I have seen in a long time. Wisconsin is horrible; no wonder Bo bolted just like Spurrier. I see us as the 5th best team if we continue to beat who we should. Today starts that. Troy stepping up is the key but he needs to facilitate off the offensive boards and free throw line extended down. The freshmen's play has also been the difference this year; it's not JB's fault. They just happen to play better D and team ball. Quote

No, it's not a good reason to let him start. I was implying that he was probably given a starter's spot to come to IU. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Crean has historically been a master of winning enough to keep the wolves off but never enough to truly convince the fanbase. To me, it fully looks like we will have another year with Crean minimum unless we sink like the Titanic. I have always been in the " I just want to win" crowd. I find myself willing to give Crean that chance over and over. It's a vicious cycle. seanmm1971, MikeRoberts, Bobman1 and 1 other 4 Quote

Rojo/newkirk Blackmon/Cujo/Green Troy/Hartman/Gelon(2) OG/Morgan/Priller?? TB/DD (expect him to play alongside TB) Insert Rawle or Thon for Troy/Priller. It seems everyone else likely to return. WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Looking at that lineup, if Troy leaves and we don't add a "replacement" this will be a rare Crean team where we are weak at Wing. Be fun to see Rojo/Newkirk JB/Green/Cujo OG DD TB HoosierAloha and Bobman1 2 Quote
Feathery Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Funny how a little winning, and this thread is way down the list. I think everyone is waiting until February, the Iowa game in particular. We should win every game until then. Sadly I could see us lose 7 of our last 9. Even if we go 4-5 over the last 9, and then flame out in the BTT/NCAAs the cries for him to be gone will be loud. Crean is essential been given a lead for the conference title with this pathetic schedule. MSU has lost 3x, Purdue 2x, Maryland once. Iowa has surprised so far but if they are the competition for the conference IU should win. It's definitely setting up for Crean to prove his doubters wrong or bomb out and leave. If he can prove himself defensively, then move him back into the starting lineup. Newkirk Johnson OG Hartman/Davis Bryant Quote
Hovadipo Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I agree. Let him bring scoring off the bench next season. If he can prove himself defensively, then move him back into the starting lineup. Newkirk Johnson OG Hartman/Davis Bryant I don't see any way one of the best scorers in the country (or B1G at the very least) comes off the bench in a largely offensive-oriented system. He is not very good on defense... no argument there, but a it's doubtful a 15-18 ppg McD's AA is a bench player. Alford Bailey 1 Quote
