Hoosier Guy Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Archie without a doubt. He coaches in a much tougher conference than does Marshall. I respect the hell out of Marshall as a coach because all he has done is win at Winthrop and Wichita State. But those conferences pale in comparison to the A-10. The A-10 has much more competition than the Big South or MVC could ever dream about Quote
Stuhoo Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 It seems like everybody's third choice is Bennett, and everybody's second choice is "Archie or Marshall without a doubt!" Quote

I don't really get how someone can say a guy that has done nothing but win consistently everywhere he's been isn't a clear upgrade over a guy that has never won consistently anywhere. Marshall is an upgrade over Crean, how much I'm not sold on but he is absolutely an upgrade. I'd have Bennett over Marshall because he's currently in a major conference so may be less projection involved. Ive got them as 3a/3b but to be honest ill be thrilled with even Archie. Quote

Beating a dead horse for me at this point. Quote

Oladipo Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Is there a reason none of y'all like Alford? The man is one of the best players to come out of IU and he has solid track records at both schools he's been at to my knowledge Quote

Missed the tourney last year and covered up a rape at Iowa. It hasn't been glorious at all times for him. New Mexico was probably his best coaching job I will give him that but the conference also isn't full of power teams. He never became this recruiter till he had UCLA by his name. schoosier Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I would be very happy with either one of them. Both are great coaches and would be in my second tier of candidates. I think either leads us to banners! Quote

Bowhunter Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 So it seems as if we will probably end up with one of these two. For me it's a tough one. One day I like Miller better and the next day I like Marshall better. So many great facts and opinions that it leaves me confused. I would put Bennet slightly ahead of these two but I would take Sean over all of them not named Donovan or Stevens, if we are going after home run hires.
